What I admire most about TUTS is their willingness to cast local Houston talent of all levels, and allowing them to work on a show with musical theater professionals from around the country. “GORGINE” features Artists NATALIE JOY JOHNSON (Lempicka, Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), JOEL WAGGONER (School of Rock, Be More Chill, Advent Carolndar), and MATTHEW RISCH (Saint X, How to Get Away With Murder, Tales of the City) as ‘Lover Boy.’

While many of the well-meaning narrative tweaks and modernized additions do seem slightly forced and somewhat at odds with the story's original innocence, for the most part, this revised CINDERELLA is a genuinely entertaining, effectively escapist musical filled with joy and magic. MTW's production continues through December 18 in Long Beach.

Brandy Norwood will return to the role of Cinderella, which she first played in Disney’s 1997 “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” in a new installment to the Descendants musical franchise on Disney+. She joins Rita Ora, China Anne McClain, Kylie Cantrall, Dara Reneé, and Morgan Dudley, who recently starred in 'Jagged Little Pill' on Broadway.

“Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” is an enduring classic for a reason. Sure, it’s family friendly and has a worldwide recognizable name, but in addition to it’s wonderful songs, it’s shown to be amazingly adaptable based on the production.

Tony Award-winning, Emmy nominated and Peabody Award-winning film, television and Broadway producer Debra Martin Chase (Cinderella, The Princess Diaries, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Cheetah Girls, The Equalizer TV series and many more) will return to The University of Texas at Austin on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 to discuss her work producing blockbuster projects featuring women and Black voices for TV and movie audiences.

Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions is set to partner with Concord Theatricals and Skydance TV for a new limited series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. Rachel Shukert, who recently created the Babysitter's Club on Netflix, will adapt the musical for television. The project is the first in a deal between Lopez, Skydance, and Concord.
