Billie Wildrick BIO

Billie's first professional review stated she "couldn't be more appealing if she were a banana." Now she's making her Broadway debut! In the meantime, Billie has been enjoying a vibrant career in Seattle playing wonderful roles like Dot/Marie (Sunday in the Park with George), Adelaide (Guys and Dolls) and Eileen (Wonderful Town) at the 5th Avenue Theatre; Mary (Vanities) and Brunhilde (Das Barbece) at ACT; and assorted other hippies, virgins, stewardesses, showgirls, sassy maids and waitresses, grandmothers, birds, femme fatales, princesses, milliners, prisoners and nymphomaniacal anthropologists at the 5th Avenue, ACT, Village Theatre and Seattle Children's. Billie can be heard on the original cast recoding of A Christmas Story in the creamy radio quartet, is not at all famous for Rita's running piano ad lib in White Christmas and played Dyanne in the first reading of Million Dollar Quartet at the coolest event of the year- the Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals. Billie is a proud founding member of The Cordless Moon Generative Artist Collective, the bands Obnoxiousaurus and Winding Stair as well as girl trio The Daffodils.

Review: SUNSET BOULEVARD at Showtunes Theatre

Dear Readers, if you know me at all you know my disdain for most things Andrew Lloyd Webber. With so much repetition and borrowing from other’s works, I just don’t see the appeal. But many love him and so it should come as no surprise that Showtunes Theatre would choose to dust off one of his grander works, “Sunset Boulevard” for their latest concert. And while the leads certainly got to show off their talents, I question the choice of this one and the presentation, beyond it being an ALW work.

BWW Review: HOW CAN I LOVE YOU at Ancient Lakes Theatre Festival

Dear Readers, as we inch back into the world of live theatrical experiences, the excitement to put out incredible art is palpable. And when you have a stunning outdoor venue such as the Cave B Winery Estates in George, WA, not to mention some of the A-listers of Seattle theater talent involved, that excitement can be overwhelming. But don’t let that excitement blind you to when a show just is not there, as was the case with “How Can I Love You” from Composer Rand Bellar and Playwright, Librettist, and Lyricist Vince Bryan.

Showtunes Theatre Company Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary at Town Hall

Showtunes Theatre Company produced its first musical in concert on January 22, 2000 at Town Hall in Seattle. Now, 20 years and one month to the day, Showtunes has produced 40 musicals in concert, multiple cabarets and special events produced in and around Seattle since January of 2000 on the very stage it all began - Town Hall Seattle.

BWW 2019 Seattle Critic's Choice Awards (Jay's Picks)

Oh my! What a year! We've seen bad-ass gospel singers, lost Jewish plays, mythical towns of excretion and even an octopus wrestler or two. No, those aren't allusions to the crazy theater going on in Washington D.C. but the crazy wonderful theater going on right here in the Seattle area. It was tough coming up with just one winner (or even just a few Honorable Mentions) but I managed to do it a?? for the most part. Plus, some shows that more of you should have seen. (Yes, that's me nagging you all, Dear Readers, to check out more of the smaller or obscure theaters around here.) But what it all comes down to is, we're blessed here in the Northwest with an over-abundance of theatrical riches and I'm so fortunate to be able to share some of my favorites of the year with you with the BWW 2019 Seattle Critic's Choice Awards (Jay's Picks). So, let's get started, shall we?

The Premiere Cast Recording of YANKEE DOODLE DANDY is Available Now

The life and times of legendary showman George M. Cohan explode into the 21st century in a sensational musical, Yankee Doodle Dandy! For the first time, the complete recording of this remarkable new musical is available on CD, digital and streaming formats. The Seattle Times called the show, 'Irresistible!' It features a book by David Armstrong (Artistic Director Emeritus of The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle) and new songs inspired by unfinished Cohan melodies, including the heartbreaking ballad, Pick Up Your Dreams, by Albert Evans (Nite Club Confidential, Pageant).

AT THIS PERFORMANCE… Returns To The Green Room 42 On 12/02

AT THIS PERFORMANCEa??  returns to The Green Room 42 featuring Standbys and Understudies from LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS; HAMILTON; THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL and WICKED on MONDAY, DECEMBER 2ND at 7PM.

BWW Review: Village Theatre's GUYS & DOLLS Has the 'Numbers' but Not the 'Story'

There's a reason that Frank Loesser's a?oeGuys & Dollsa?? has endured all these years and keeps coming back, it's a near perfect musical. It's fun and frothy with that rare breed of songs that all move the story along and tell a story of their own. But with these songs, and because of them, you need a love story that reads true, connections with everyone on stage, and storytelling in the staging and choreography as well as in the dialog and lyrics. And while the current production at Village Theatre has some numbers that worked and some wonderful performers, it lacked those three elements making the show a nice collection of performances with no spark or cohesion.

AT THIS PERFORMANCE... Celebrates Its 16th Anniversary and Returns To The Green Room 42

AT THIS PERFORMANCEa?? celebrates its 16th anniversary and returns to The Green Room 42 featuring Standbys and Understudies from Moulin Rouge; Ain't Too Proud; Broadway Bounty Hunter; Frozen; Kiss Me, Kate; Be More Chill; Alice By Heart; School Of Rock; and Bandstand on Monday, October 7th at 7pm.

GUYS & DOLLS Hits Village Theatre's Stage For The Holiday Season

This winter, Village Theatre will warm the cold and dreary Seattle days with the brassy and colorful iconic crowd pleaser, Guys & Dolls. The second show in their celebratory 40th Anniversary Season, Guys & Dolls will run at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah November 7 a?' December 29, 2019 before moving to the Everett Performing Arts Center January 3 a?' February 2, 2020.

BWW Review: The Beauty Is LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA from Showtunes

Craig Lucas and Adam Guettel's soaring romantic and tragic musical a?oeLight in the Piazzaa?? is not often tackled a?? thank the theater Gods. I'm not saying it's bad by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that I'd hate to see every small company, without the resources to handle it well, take it on. Fortunately, they've built in a few traps that may dissuade. First off, it's not your typical, rollicking musical with songs you'll be singing after. Second, there's all that Italian that your cast needs to learn and deliver authentically. And finally, it's some tough music. It needs to be done by insanely talented professionals who can handle these beautiful melodies that fly up into the rafters (often in Italian) as well as the heartfelt story. Enter Showtunes Theatre as they begin their 20th season, who routinely gather together the cream of the crop of Seattle artists for just a few weekends, books in hand, and you'll find yourself gifted with the mind-blowingly gorgeous evening that is their current production of a?oeLight in the Piazzaa??.

AT THIS PERFORMANCE... Returns To The Green Room 42; Lineup Announced!

AT THIS PERFORMANCEa?? returns to The Green Room 42 featuring Standbys and Understudies from AIN'T TOO PROUD; BROADWAY BOUNTY HUNTER; WICKED; KISS ME KATE; BE MORE CHILL; A STRANGE LOOP and ANASTASIA on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH at 7 PM.
