Musical Theatre Guild, a Southern California theatre institution for over a quarter century, has announced casting for its upcoming production of FOLLIES. Stephen Sondheim's classic 1971 musical reflecting the collapse of American innocence and naivete in the post-Kennedy years, will take place on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center's Eli and Edythe Broad Stage.

Theatre LA Cares has announced the third annual Twisted Broadway fundraiser, this year in support of Red Cross Australia animal rescue. Hosted by Jason Graae with musical direction by Jan Roper and directed by Linda Kerns, the curtain will rise at 8pm on Tuesday, March 10, at Feinstein's at Vitello's in Studio City.

Steven Brinberg a?' best known for creating and performing Simply Barbra, the acclaimed all-live homage to the legendary Barbra Streisand a?' will produce and host an all-star tribute to Marvin Hamlisch at Catalina Jazz Club (6725 West Sunset Blvd) in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday, October 24 at 8:30 PM. Much like the book Matilda by Roald Dah, the musical of the same name depends upon the talents, moxie, and sass of a small girl.  Luckily, MATILDA the musical now playing at Moonlight Amphitheatre through August 3rd has a very talented lead actress named Charity Rose, along with an incredibly talented cast, to bring this story to life on stage.

Medwish International hosts Music for Medwish an intimate evening featuring some of Broadway's best in Los Angeles on Monday, April 15th at 8pm at the Rockwell Table and Stage (1714 N Vermont Ave). Produced by Broadway actress and producer Betsy Werbel (Wicked) the event raises funds for Medwish, a not-for-profit organization that repurposes discarded medical supplies and equipment to provide humanitarian aid around the world saving lives - and the environment.

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will present MTG REWIND, a special benefit to support Musical Theatre Guild's extensive youth outreach programs. The event, an intimate celebration of over 20 years of Musical Theatre Guild's best musical moments, will take place at Rockwell Table and Stage on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 8:00 pm.

What a dazzling array of talent (pictured above)! Monday December 10 marked the 25th performance of An Evening of Classic Broadway at Rockwell Table and Stage. For those unfamiliar with this event that meets 5 or 6 times a year, it's a musical evening of Broadway tunes, both familar and lesser known, introduced by producers Dianne Fraser who also performs and accompanist Brad Ellis who serves as musical director and fun narrator par excellence. Joining them this time around are Domonique Paton, Ashley Fox Linton, Shannon Warne, Larry Poindexter, Michael Kastroff, Scoth Ellis Loring and the piece de resistance Queen of Los Angeles Cabaret Andrea Marcovicci. I say are instead of were because, due to popular demand, this particular show is having a second performance on Wednesday December 19 once again at Rockwell with most of the cast intact.

Cabaret icon Andrea Marcovicci joins the line-up for the 25th concert of Fraser Entertainment Group's An Evening of Classic Broadway, currently nominated for BWW.com's Los Angeles Regional Award for Best Special Theatre Event. The show tune songfest will take place on Monday, December 10th at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Angeles.

The musical is a send-up of the cult classic movie and other sci-fi films and TV shows of the 1950s, melded with plot elements from "The Tempest" along with dialogue bits from multiple Shakespeare plays. That was part of the fun for me, catching so many Shakespearean quotes perfectly placed in the dialogue of Bob Carlton's musical set on a spaceship sometime in the future, featuring a galaxy of 1950's and 1960's rock and roll classics including "Wipeout," "Good Vibrations," "Great Balls of Fire," "All Shook Up," "Monster Mash" and "We Gotta Get Out of this Place." And what an outrageously fabulous band under the musical direction of Trevor Wheetman and Omar D. Brancato, both of whom rocked the house on guitars while believably playing Ensign crew members onstage.

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will conclude their 22nd Anniversary season with Jason Robert Brown and Andrew Bergman's HONEYMOON IN VEGAS.  The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 7:00 PM.   This staging will provide Southern California audiences a first look at this delightful musical.

3-D Theatricals (3DT) rings in its 2017-1018 season at both the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (RBPAC) and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the Broadway creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, is a hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks. David Lamoureux directs with Corey Hirsch serving as Musical Director and Daniel Smith as Choreographer. What would it be like if dogs could speak? That's one question that is answered in A. R. Gurney's 1995 play Sylvia, which deals with much more than just a man and his dog.  Sylvia is currently playing through Sunday, May 7 at the Rubicon Theatre Company Ventura.
