MadLab's resident improv troupe is back once again to share your story of love by making it up in hilarious, unpredictable fashion.
MadLab Theatre presents a play about the effects of mental illness entitled FINE (NOT FINE). This will be a presentation made up of letters from you, the general public, about your experiences with mental illness. The purpose of this play is help normalize these issues as well as provide a catharsis for those that may be suffering.
For 2019-20, MadLab is getting it's...stuff together. This season, our full lengths tell the stories of struggling characters trying to keep it together while dealing with hilarious and heartbreaking life events. In addition to those 3 shows, it is another jam packed year including their 21st Theatre Roulette, their 8th Young Writer's Short Play Festival, the latest version of Date Night and more. Make a Scene Improv (MASI) announces the launch of "Tuesday Night Improv". Make A Scene Improv was founded in 2015 to provide training and performance opportunities for the growing community of improvisers in Central Ohio.
MadLab's Young Writers Short Play Festival, in its 5th year, will feature a collection of ten short plays written by 11 Columbus area high school students.
Short North Stage held it's first Cabaret Contest Night on Wednesday June 15th in Ethel's Bar. All acts were welcome; singers, dancers, poets, comedians, improv troupes, burlesque- performers of any kind though most people gave vocal performances. Winner was determined based on the audience vote after the conclusion of all the performances. The winner received 50% of the entry fees collected with the balance along with spinning wheel games to raise additional funds for Short North Stage's 'Make Our Garden Grow' campaign working to raise $10,000 for bathroom renovations.

The Central Ohio Theatre Critics Circle has presented its 22nd annual citations for outstanding achievements in theater. Rather than focusing on competitive annual 'best' categories, the circle annually honors local individuals or groups whose work 'promotes the higher values of theater' or 'expands the possibilities of theater. All citations, presented Sunday night, January 31, 2016 during the Theater Roundtable's 16th annual Theater Awards Night at the Jewish Community Center, reflect a consensus of central Ohio theater critics:

MadLab Theatre has announced their new artistic director will be Jim Azelvandre, effective January 1, 2016. Azelvandre, MadLab's sixth artistic director, will replace current Artistic Director Andy Batt who has decided to move on to other artistic endeavors.
