True. She's just copying Barbra, but it fit the character of Rachel for her to do everything the way Barbra did. We have yet to see Lea's ACTUAL interpretation of Fanny. I'm not sure Lea would make a good Fanny on Broadway but I'd love to see her in a Barbra Streisand biopic.
What are you talking about? Lea Michele is a very pretty Girl. They always played her off as some ugly chick in Glee, but she's actually very good looking.

I agree. I thought her performance was amazing; the best performance on that show in my opinion. I'm actually really sad that they aren't bringing it back to broadway anymore because I was really looking forward to see it. She would have been spectacular!
Greatest Star was a disaster, as was basically the entire Glee presentation of Funny Girl. I'm to the point where I'm glad she won't be playing it on Broadway. Leave it to someone like Jessie Mueller or Annaleigh Ashford. Someone who can nail the singing, drama and the comedy. Lea has the pipes but I don't think she has the acting chops for this onstage.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
Around here, Lea Michele was the whipping boy/girl when GLEE was on tv...but i always was excited to hear her on the show and what she sang was almost always splendid...including this version of MY MAN...and i for one would have made the trip to NY if she had done FUNNY GIRL...someone needs to bring this musical back!

Her "Don't Rain On My Parade" was a stand out moment for a reason. And this version of "My Man" made me tear up when I watched it for the first time even though it has so little context in the episode. But yeah, "I'm the Greatest Star" was awful. "You Are Woman, I Am Man" just seemed awkward for everyone. I think there's a chance she could do it but the bigger issue is that I don't trust that there will be a creative team who will get it right, especially if Ryan Murphy was signing off on the way they presented Funny Girl that last season of Glee.
I think Lea Michele is a fine singer (and actress). What she needs is a director who would steer her away from simply imitating Babs. However a TV show like Glee isn't the best indicator if she could pull off Funny Girl.
