I wanted to find out if anyone around here has seen or heard anything about a few Off-Broadway (and Off-Off-Broadway) shows that have caught my eye recently. I am posting this new topic because I haven't seen much discussion on these particular shows so forgive me if they have already been talked about on the boards. I figure this could also be used for others to inquire about other smaller, OOB productions with a smaller audience they are curious about.

1. Cinderella at the Minetta Lane Theatre. Seems interactive and interesting.

2. Shear Madness at NWS. This hasn't started performance in NY yet, but I'm fairly certain it has played elsewhere.

3. A Clockwork Orange at Roy Arias Stage. A play adaptation by the novel author himself... also seems interesting.

Any and all reports are greatly appreciated.

No kidding! Shear Madness is a classic! It's been around for decades. The Kennedy Center production alone has been running for almost 30 years. I saw it when I was in 8th grade, and might just make a return visit to experience it again after all these years. It's a lot of fun.

"Cinderella at the Minetta Lane Theatre."

This is is presented by the same company that put on Nutcracker Rouge two years ago, and is in a similar risqué, baroque vein. The group boasts great dancers and performers, and the choreography is imaginative and inventive. The enactment of Cinderella's carriage and horses was beautifully done.

On the whole,  I would say that Cinderella is less outré and less fun than Nutcracker. It's more pageant than funfest. It has many striking moments, but a certain tedium sets in.

It's been in Boston since 1980.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
