I'm visiting NYC in the first week of October and desperately wanted to see On The Town. Thing is, as of right now, tonight Sunday September 14 PST the Ticketmaster site is showing no seats for any day I want to go.

Could it be completely sold out at this point?? Or maybe there is site maintenance? In any case I'm freaking out because I really wanted to see it.

Ok never mind, it seems the site was just down for a few hours. Seeing tickets now...

In that barn of a theater and the fact this show has been done to death, you should have no trouble getting tickets.

"Done to death. . ."

Yea. It was done on Broadway in 1944, 1971 and 1998. Now here it is just 16 years later. . .! HUH?

I think he means that its done all over the country with numerous productions. Let's face some facts:

1. Rando sucks as a director.
2. The theatre is so large it will be hard to support it.
3. The show is old and tired.

Didn't this production get stellar reviews in the Berkshires last summer? I think the thing it does have working against it is the theater, but they've done a really solid job of marketing it and it's a fun, classic show that families can take their kids to. I don't think we should be writing it off just yet.

Back in 2005 I saw the Reprise revival here is Los Angeles. I was not impressed. The show itself seemed paper thin.

However, the original cast recording has always been one of my favorites. I think the score is absolutely sumptuous. And I watched the rehearsal footage for this new version for 4 songs and found it to be fresh and sexy.

So I'm making this my one show for my visit. Really looking forward to it! Thanks everyone for easing my mind about getting tickets.
