Hello all. There's a new and exciting Broadway World webseries titled "Covers" that is starting up on Monday, August 18th. It stars Jason Patrick Sands (ensemble, Billy Flynn U/S, Fred Casely U/S, Amos Hart U/S and Brian O Brien (ensemble, Billy Flynn U/S). Here is a description of the new webseries:
"an origional series created by Jason Patrick Sands and Brian O'Brien
This heightened reality, character-driven, "mockudramedy" web series follows the story of 2 understudies and the actors behind the longest running American Broadway musical CHICAGO, and how they cope with eccentric personalities, celebrity egos, and generally being unknown and under appreciated... In a similar tone as THE OFFICE, this series gives a backstage peek into the seemingly glamorous world of Broadway from the point of view the two “Covers”. While sexy and smart, COVERS paints a rarely seen, honest, hilarious, and heartfelt depiction of what it means to be in a long-running Broadway show... All the while trying to balance making it as an actor with the realities of real life... Because after all, dreams do come true, until it’s not up to you... " It sounds fantastic. If you so desire, there's also an opportunity to support "Covers". Check out the website. from RC in Austin, Texas

I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Here is a link to a recent BWW article (which somehow escaped my attention).

From the minds of Chicago co-stars Jason Patrick Sands and Brian O'Brien comes the new Broadway web comedy series "COVERS," set to premiere its pilot episode on Monday, August 18, 2014 exclusively on BroadwayWorld.com.

Directed by Tyler Maynard, "COVERS" is a heightened-reality, character-driven "mockudramedy" that follows the story of two competing understudies and the surrounding company of the long-running Broadway musical Chicago.

Watch Chicago cast members Brian O'Brien and Jason Patrick Sands as they cope with an endless array of eccentric backstage personalities, celebrity egos and showbiz insanity -- all while trying to get ahead, despite being completely unknown and generally under-appreciated.

In a tone similar to "The Office," "COVERS" gives a backstage peek into the seemingly glamorous world of Broadway from the point of view of two understudies -- or "covers" -- for the show's celebrated leading man.

Sexy, smart and silly, "COVERS" paints a rarely seen, honest and hilarious depiction of what it means to be in a long-running Broadway show, all while trying to "make it" as an actor while balancing the realities of life in show business.

Because after all, dreams do come true... until it's not up to you.

Joining O'Brien and Sands, the principal cast for "COVERS" also stars Broadway veterans Cristy Candler as Jane Goodlove (a Chicago dancer ), Colby Chambers as Shawn (a Chicago chorus boy), Dylis Croman as herself, Paige Davis as Maggie (the Chicago press rep.), Christopher Fitzgerald as Steve (the Chicago stage manager), Tyler Maynard as Colton (the assistant stage manager), Ryan Silverman as himself, Amy Spanger as "The Dresser" and Amos Wolff as Adam (a Chicago chorus boy).

"COVERS" is edited by Eden Rock Productions and Jason Patrick Sands. Tyler Maynard and Jason Patrick Sands are the directors of photography.

The first four episodes of "COVERS" will air exclusively on BroadwayWorld.com in the coming days. The remaining episodes of Season One are now in production. Sands and O'Brien have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the completion of the first season: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1263072462/covers

Well, there IS good news on the "Covers" front. Initially, I thought that "Covers" was dunzo because it did not meet its Kickstarter goal. Now, however, Covers will have a new life after all. Brian stated that more episodes will be produced later in the year. JPS mentioned that a deal has been reached whereby "Covers" will go beyond the initial four episodes. This is great news! This is great publicity for the show, obviously. from RC in Austin, Texas
