This is a pretty interesting interview (close to 22 minutes). Kyle Dean talks about many things, including how his accent is sometimes noticeable in his show (and how he gets notes about it). He seems like a very likeable person. (from Broadway.com) Kyle Dean Massey
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
His accent would be pretty noticeable to anyone who's from/knows the Arkansas/SW Missouri area. He sounds exactly like most of my husband's extended family.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
He's a pretty cool guy- i remember meeting him after Pippin and he actually talked to me for a good amount of time- it was kinda weird/ awkward because He kept standing there and i kept having to find things to discuss. LOL. But he was really sweet and actually seemed to enjoy talking to people and took a little more time then most do at the stage door.
About the accent- He does have one that is only noticeable in some of the ways he says his words. I picked up on it because we had the same accent.
Don't know of Mr Wontorek--but that was so bad--why does he have to try to be best friends-just ask the questions-LISTEN and don't try to top or talk over the reply-it's not about you !
Regardless of who he is interviewing he always tries to upstage the actor by proving what a superfan he is. It's cloying. He talks over actors, interrupts them with his knowledge and hits on all the guys shamelessly.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
^I disagree wholeheartedly. While he's not by any means the perfect interviewer, Paul asks interesting questions that can be controversial. He's one of the best Broadway interviewers we got(unfortunately for us).
