Feel free to chat about the beauty that is Heathers: The Musical. To start off, what is everyone's favorite song from the show if you've seen it. Personally, my favorite is Seventeen. It just shows how broken and twisted Veronica and J.D.'s relationship is. And it's got a beautiful melody. What do you think?
It varies, but currently mine is Yo Girl/Meant To Be Yours. Dead Girl Walking ranks second.
I recognize that it's a lighthearted adaptation of the film, but I had such a fun time watching it and have such pleasant memories associated with it that I don't even care. Although, I do really, really wish everyone died in the end.
My favorite song was "Seventeen". Overall thought the show had some good music and some funny moments but the tone is all over the place and I felt they mostly got it wrong. Also really didn't like Barret Wilbert Weed's take on Veronica. But maybe I shouldn't have watched the movie on Netflix the day before I went to see it.
In my opinion the tone is meant to be all over the place. The movie was the exact same way. I forget who it what interview but someone said what makes it so unique is that there are some points where you don't know weather to laugh or "cringe" (for lack of a better word). I know it's not the best song in the score but I can't get enough of "Candy Store". Also I love "Beautiful".
I'm sorry, but the tone of the film is not "all over the place". It's one of the blackest comedies ever made, hence the not knowing whether to laugh or cringe.
Yeah. Have to agree with Jordan on this one. The tone is not all over the place in the film. It's funny...but always dark. Which is what makes it such a successful black comedy. The musical keeps switching from bright and silly, to dark but funny, to serious. Didn't work for me. I blame Andy Cohen.
If you really want to go to the closing show, you should buy in advance. The Heathers team has stated in social media rush most likely won't be available for closing. Just an FYI.
I Facebook Messaged the account and asked if they would have rush, and they said "Probably not". There is a discount code that works until Aug 3 so I'd say your best bet is to try either rush or discounted tickets on August 3.
I haven't seen the show but I have listened to the mini-album and I love the song "Seventeen". I've recently listened to the full cast albums for If/then, Gentlemen's Guide, Bridges, and Bullets over Broadway, and couldn't find a song in any of those four albums that equaled "Seventeen", IMO.
No, this must be a default avatar the site gives you if it doesn't approve of the one you uploaded. I can't seem to get the site to use the one I uploaded; have even uploaded it a few times.
Hmm, I enjoy the Heathers recording, but when you start saying 17 is better than anything in Bridges and If/Then, I have to disagree. Although I did see all three shows, so I'm going off of more information than only listening to the cast recordings... it still seems hard to imagine Bridges not resonating as a song cycle.
@haterobics, again I didnt see the shows so maybe when you put the context of the story with the music it would have had a different effect on me. It might also be personal preference. I liked the song "Look at Me" from Bridges, and I admit it was stuck in my head for a few days. But I didn't give it the 20 replays I have probably given "Seventeen". Note, I have seen the movie and know the story of Heathers so that probably helps make the music more visual for me, and my statement was probably being unfair to the other shows.
The Heathers twitter account posted that they were looking for fans with high quality video cameras to attend the last 2 shows. I wonder if this means that it will be filmed in some cocapacity. I will take what I can get. It doesn't have to be proshot. I'd be happy with video from a house camera. I don't really know if this could be a commercial release though.
Final performance today. Very sad. Absolutely loved this show.
I saw the matinee yesterday and at the stage door I heard ramblings of a regional tour. I think that this is as far as the will be able to go with this unless they do the revamp that somebody has mentioned on another HEATHERS thread.
I too am sorry to see this show go. Were ticket sales really that poor that the show couldn't make it at New World Stages? I saw the show for the second time last weekend, and the place was filled with enthusiastic fans. New World seems like a good home for it, the perfect size.
