World Exclusive Photo Coverage: Kristin Chenoweth Shines at the Hollywood Bowl

A meteor hit the stage at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend for two consecutive performances. Accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the evening's program also boasted conductor Kevin Stites and a cast featuring Jennifer Diamond, Constantine Germanacos and Johnny Stellard.

It is hard to describe in words, what the audience witnessed, but one would have to begin with the star's entrance in a Mark Zunino gown that literally took the audience's breath away. Kristin Chenoweth is an indescribable combination of Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews, Judy Garland, Betty Hutton, Carol Burnett, Madeline Kahn and one could just go on and on. But, 'the voice' is unlike any other and envelops all those named talents in a 4'11" frame that seems impossible to embody all the talent on display. The show received numerous standing ovations and the musical selections, each and every one, were well thought out, chosen and beautifully executed.

Unless you've been living under a rock, one of the 'highlights' of the show was during the WICKED section of the program, when 'her boys' Constantine and Johnny head out into the audience with microphones for Kristin to talk to and interview prospective singing partners, to join her in 'For Good' which is famous having been sung originally on Broadway by Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.

At Friday night's show, she chose Sarah Horn, who is now known all over the world, and you can see why here. BroadwayWorld.com, over the weekend assembled a first-hand interview and the backstory of how it all happened, along with Saturday night's choice, Kellie McKay, proving that these were not 'plants'.

Act One was beautifully dedicated to Hollywood Film music and songs from films. Act Two was described as 'Pure Chenoweth' or as we like to describe it 'Pure Joy'. This was not a concert, this was not a show, this was an EVENT. It was one of those legendary concerts that people will be talking about for years to come. The evening's entertainment was devised by the star, director Richard Jay-Alexander and Mary-Mitchell Campbell, the star's longtime collaborator. Chenoweth teamed up with Jay-Alexander just a little over a year ago. Matt Berman and Rocky Noel are her technical team and special kudos must be given to Souza for the fireworks display, choreographed and executed by Eric S. Elias. The fireworks rang out during a dazzling pyrotechnic finale of 'God Bless America'. The glorious Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra was also enhanced by Damien Bassman on drums, Eric Davis on guitar, Brian Hamm on bass, and Ben Toth on piano. Here is the evening's musical program.
