Earlier this week, several Broadway favorites gathered at Broadway's supper club, 54 Below, to celebrate the music of Frank Wildhorn. Among the concert's performers were Tony nominees and BONNIE AND CLYDE stars Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan, as well as fellow cast members Louis Hobson, Michael Lanning, Mimi Bessette, and Melissa van der Schyff. Broadway's Marquis Theatre welcomed a new show to the stage last night: THE ILLUSIONISTS - WITNESS THE IMPOSSIBLE. With a strictly limited engagement, the show will play through January 4th. The company's Broadway engagement is part of a 30-city U.S. tour. The company includes seven of the world's most renowned illusionists who perform a range of magic tricks and stunts in their acclaimed performance piece. Broadway legend Chita Rivera performed at the Museum of the City of New York's annual cabaret gala on Tuesday, December 2nd. Rivera is a two-time Tony Award winner, and she has been nominated for seven additional Tony Awards besides that. Perhaps best known for her portrayal of "Anita" in WEST SIDE STORY, Rivera also created the role of Velma Kelly in the original production of CHICAGO and earned critical acclaim for her performance in KISS OF THE SPIDER-WOMAN. George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly's MERTON OF THE MOVIES was done as a reading with the Roundabout Theatre Company. The star-studded cast was led by four-time Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory," "The Normal Heart") and Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock," Nine). Alongside them were Rory O'Malley, Randy Graff, Debra Jo Rupp, John Cullum, Brooks Ashmanskas, and many others. For more pictures from the reading, click here!

One of the most highly-anticipated off-Broadway productions of this season is the Roundabout's revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's legendary musical INTO THE WOODS. Beginning performances on Thursday, December 18th with an official opening on Thursday, January 22nd, INTO THE WOODS will play a limited engagement at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. BroadwayWorld continues coverage of the cast recording for this year's CAROLS FOR A CURE CD, sold to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This week, we've got coverage of the company of ON THE TOWN, currently playing at Broadway's Lyric Theatre. The cast recorded "Christmas Eve in my Hometown" for the CD which is being sold at most Broadway theatres nights by BC/EFA. Click here to see more coverage of the recording session!

Currently performing at the St. James Theatre, the cast of SIDE SHOW got in the recording studio earlier this week to record the all-new cast album. The cast recording is being produced through Broadway Records and is set to be released in early 2015. Starring Emily Padgett and Erin Davie as the Hilton twins, this completely re-imagined revival is directed by Bill Condon. Click here to see more photos from the cast's recording session!

With an official opening on November 30th, Paper Mill Playhouse presents the holiday musical ELF, based on the 2003 film of the same name starring Will Ferrell. This production's cast stars James Moye as Buddy the Elf. Other cast members include Kate Fahrner, Paul C. Vogt, and Heidi Blickenstaff. The show is set to run at the Milburn, New Jersey theatre from now through January 4th, 2015. BroadwayWorld was there for opening night; check out more photos from the special event here!

Currently starring in the original musical IF/THEN, James Snyder previewed his new show: A FIRST NEW YORK HOLIDAY ROAD WITH FRIENDS. Snyder's show features guest stars such as "Cry-Baby" co-star Elizabeth Stanley and Matt Doyle with whom he will be singing songs from bare: a pop opera. In his show, Snyder reflects on the important moments of his career and how they led him to where he is today.
