San Diego Musical Theatre wins awards, for their 2013 Season of Musicals, at the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle 12th Annual Craig Noel Awards on February 10th, 2014 at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in La Jolla among 500 San Diego theatre industry members and supporters. Don LeMaster was honored for Outstanding Musical Direction and Victoria Strong won Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical for 'The Sound of Music'. Additionally,Randall Dodge, who was awarded Actor of the Year for his outstanding body of work in 2013, played Captain Von Trapp in SDMT's 'The Sound of Music'.

San Diego Musical Theatre, "The Local Way to See Broadway", was honored with 8 Craig Noel Award nominations: Outstanding Resident Musical "Chicago"; Outstanding Choreography - Randy Slovacek "Chicago"; Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical, Female - Emma Radwick "Chicago"; Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical, Male - Alonzo Saunders "Chicago"; Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical, Male - Randall Dodge "The Sound of Music"; Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical, Female - Allison Spratt Pearce "The Sound of Music"; Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical, Female - Victoria Strong "The Sound of Music"; and Outstanding Musical Direction - Don LeMaster "The Sound of Music."

SDMT Producer/Executive Director Erin Lewis states: "We are so proud of all of our nominees and winners. It was a wonderful year of musicals and we were honored to work with all of our amazing casts, orchestras, crews and production teams that helped bring the season together ."

San Diego Musical Theatre's first production of 2014, CATS, runs March 21- April 6, 2014 at The North Park Theatre. With Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Based on Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats By T.S. Eliot.

Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years.

SDMT's CATS will be Directed by James Vasquez, with Choreography by Janet Renslow and Musical Direction by Don LeMaster. Additional production team includes Matthew Novotny as Lighting Designer, Janet Pitcher as Costume Coordinator, and Stanley Cohen as Stage Manager.

CATS will feature Debbie Prutsman as Grizabella, Kurt Norby as Old Deuteronomy, Jeffrey Scott Parsons as Skimbleshanks, Cody Walker as Munkustrap and Justin Ray as Rum Tum Tugger also featuring Danielle Airey, Jim Chatham, Liz Daniels, Alexis DeDonato, Deborah Fauerbach, Courtney Fero, Max Gidaley, Kyrsten Hafso-Koppman, Kyle Hawk, Dylan Hoffinger, Keith Johnson, Aurore Joly, Arielle Meads, Joy Newbegin, Steven Rada, Bailey Sonner, and Eric Taylor.

After CATS, Beth Malone stars as Annie Oakley in SDMT's Annie Get Your Gun - May 9-25 followed by Next To Normal - September 26-October 12 and Irving Berlin's White Christmas - December 11-21.
