Brooklyn's brightest stars shine on the same block as Matilda and Phantom of the Opera in Voices 2013, the fourth annual concert of Bay Ridge Vocal Studios. Mary Elizabeth MiCari's vocal training ground gets bigger every year. Beginning in a church basement along the BQE in Brooklyn, Ms. MiCari's burgeoning vocal program moved to Genesis Repertory's Block Theatre the following year, then to the concert stage of the Bay Ridge Jewish Center, and now in the Producer's Club's Crowned Theatre. Where to next year, Mary?

She created roles off-Broadway and on film and is a celebrated dancer as well; Sherry Geidd - a recognized local artist Ms. Geidd uses Bay Ridge Studios has her springboard into the professional realm.

Special guest Erica Vasaturo, lead singer for the Mick Watley Band, began studying voice with Ms. MiCari in the aforementioned church basement and today she is a professional musician. She will present a new piece at the concert soon to be on her new album.

Mary Micari can easily be called an arts journeyman. She has Broadway credentials that include Aida, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, Wonderful Town, Light in the Piazza, Wicked, and Spamalot; She founded two theatrical companies; sung in numerous operas and musicals; portrayed many of Shakespeare's queens - Elizabeth in Richard III, Gertrude in Hamlet, and Lady Macbeth - off-Broadway; and recently completed her first CD.
