This morning, Reeve Carney, Robert Cuccioli, and Spider-Men from SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark visited the American Museum of Natural History, where they met with curator Norman Platnik in the "Spiders Alive!" exhibit. Check out full photo coverage from the event below!
SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is Broadway's most popular new show and, in the past year, the production has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger (Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, "Big Love"). Scenic Designer George Tsypin and Costume Designer Eiko Ishioka are winners of Outer Critics Circle Awards and were nominated for Tony® Awards for their work on SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark.
Spiders Alive!, a new exhibition on view at the American Museum of Natural History through December 2, 2012, features approximately 20 species of live spiders and highlights this intriguing animal group's anatomy, behavior, and unique characteristics. The Museum, which has the world's largest research collection of spiders, has been at the forefront of studying spider diversity for over 75 years. For centuries, spiders have inspired mythmakers from Ovid to E. B. White to the creators of the eponymous superhero, but their actual role in diverse ecosystems around the globe is just as captivating. amnh.org.
