Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the cast and creative team for the poignant comic drama The Big Meal, which will take the stage Aug 5, 2016 as the ninth production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 19. Originally scheduled to be produced on the Harriett stage at Mad Cow, The Big Meal will be presented on the more intimate Zehngebot-Stonerock stage as a result of the extension of Mad Cow's popular Avenue Q.

The extraordinary story of an ordinary family, The Big Meal begins when, somewhere in America in a typical restaurant on a typical night, sparks fly between Nicole and Sam. From first kiss to final goodbye, The Big Meal travels through nearly 80 years in 90 minutes, introducing the audience to five generations of a modern family in a big-hearted play that The New York Timescalled "a life-in-overdrive comic drama" and The New Yorker called "intimate and exhilarating."

First produced by American Theatre in Chicago in 2010, The Big Meal opened off-Broadway in 2012. Among its honors have been the New York Times outstanding playwright award for writer Dan LeFranc.

The cast of The Big Meal at Mad Cow Theatre features Sarah French (You Can't Take It With You, Clybourne Park, Urinetown), Peter Galman*, Steven Lane* (The Secret Garden, Photograph 51, The Drowsy Chaperone), Shami J. McCormick*, Ginger Lee McDermott* (Other Desert Cities, Road to Mecca), Jeffrey Todd Parrott (The History Boys), Rebecca Schledwitz, and Trevor Simoneau.

Director Mark Edward Smith (Long Day's Journey Into Night, Art, My Name is Asher Lev) returns to Mad Cow Theatre with The Big Meal. Scenic design is by William Elliot (Long Day's Journey Into Night, You Can't Take It With You, The Philadelphia Story), costume design by Aubrey Hess (Photograph 51, Art), and lighting design is by Amy Hadley (The Love of Don Perlimplín and Belisa in the Garden).
