Westport Country Playhouse will open its 2016 Season with two Tony Award-winning plays staged in repertory, "Art" and "Red," with each play alternating daily, now through May 29. "Art" by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, and "Red" by John Logan, will be directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. Each of the plays is about art: making it, owning it, the anguish of creating it, and the ache of believing in it. BroadwayWorld has a first look at "Red" below!

In the riveting drama "Red," the famous abstract expressionist Mark Rothko paints; his assistant runs the errands; each knows his place in the world. But when the artist asks his protégée, "What do you see," it rearranges everything.

The cast of "Red" includes Patrick Andrews as Ken (regional theater's "Red," "The Iceman Cometh," "American Buffalo," "The Book Thief," "The Normal Heart," "Cabaret"; tv's "Chicago Code," "Chicago Fire"). Stephen Rowe will play Mark Rothko. Rowe was in "Red" on Broadway as the understudy to Alfred Molina. His other Broadway credits are "The Cripple of Inishmaan," "That Championship Season," "Frost/Nixon," "The Goat," and "The Nerd." His television credits include "Blue Bloods" (recurring), and "Billions."

The design team includes Allen Moyer, scenic design; Candice Donnelly, costume design; Matthew Richards, lighting design; and David Budries, sound design.
