Photo Coverage: Linda Lavin Brings 'My First Farewell Concert' to Birdland

Linda Lavin, currently starring in OUR MOTHER'S BRIEF AFFAIR on Broadway, just brought a new solo show to Birdland- "My First Farewell Concert". BroadwayWorld was on hand fo rthe special night and you can check out photos below!
The show, wryly entitled "My First Farewell Concert," was Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. As part of a consecutive two-night gig at the club, Linda performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. Songs included "You've Got Possibilities," "No More Blues," and a medley of songs recorded by the late, great Bobby Short.
Lavin won a Tony Award, as well as Drama Desk, Outer Critics' and Helen Hayes Awards, for her performance inBroadway Bound in 1987. She is a six- time Tony nominee for her roles in The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife (MTC), Collected Stories (MTC) and The Lyons. She is a two-time Golden Globe winner for her role as Alice on the 9 year hit TV series on CBS, and she recently co- starred with Sean Hayes in the NBC Series Sean Saves the World. She just wrapped shooting The Intern with Robert DeNiro for director Nancy Meyers and the independent films Essential Ingredients and Manhattan Nocturne. She also stars with Bryan Greenberg and Harris Yulin in the just released film, A Short History of Decay. Other film credits include Wanderlust, The Backup Plan, The Muppets Take Manhattan, See You in the Morning... Born in Portland, Maine, a graduate of the College if William & Mary which recently conferred on her an honorary doctor of arts degree, she has endowed a program there for theater students. She was recently inducted into the theatre hall of fame. She performed twice with the Lincoln Center Theater in Other Desert Cities and The New Century, for which she won a Drama Desk Award. She performs her concert act with Billy Stritch, her music director, and her husband Steve Bakunas at the drum, in venues ranging from clubs to theaters to symphony halls, and has released her first CD "Possibilities", an album of jazz standards and show tunes.
