Rock music, counter-culture, and the sexual revolution take center stage in HAIR, the first and most successful rock musical of all time, at Bainbridge Performing Arts this month. Featuring the iconic numbers Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, I Believe in Love, Hair, I Got Life, What a Piece of Work Is Man, and Hippie Life, HAIR offers meaningful commentary on the generational divide of the Sixties, lending vitality and insights that remain relevant today. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Berger is the leader of a politically active "tribe" of long-haired hippies that includes Claude, Berger, Jeannie, Shelia, and Woof. Their love-filled way of life is thrown into disarray when Claude is drafted.

Director Teresa Thuman is joined by BPA Resident Musical Director Josh Anderson and Choreographer Noah Duffy to lead a stellar cast including both BPA newcomers and favorites: Todd Baylor, Austin Bennett, Becca Brown, Adrian Cerrato, Melanie Curran, Danielle Daggerty, Ted Dowling (Berger), Liz Ellis, Brace Evans (Hud), Max Herren, Jade Jones, Mikaela Karter, Denny Le (Woof), Olivia Lee (Ronny), Michelle Lorenz Odell (Margaret Mead, Dionne), Alison Monda (Sheila), Adrienne Palay, Kali Ponzo (Jeanie), Justine Scott (Chrissy), and Jesse Smith (Claude).

With book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, HAIR was produced for the Broadway Stage by Michael Butler and was originally produced by the New York Shakespeare Festival Theatre. HAIR won a Drama Desk Award for Music (1968), a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical (2009), and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical (2009). HAIR is produced by special arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc.

WARNING: This show includes simulated drug use and sexual acts, racial stereotypes and slurs of the era, nudity, profanity, refusal of authority, energy, love and happiness.
