Tens of thousands of people converged on the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois during the recent Wizard World Comic Con in the hope of getting an autograph or shaking the hand of the man whose movies had changed their lives-Hollywood megastar Burt Reynolds. Scroll down for photos!

Chicago has been known as a "toddlin' town" since 1922 but it really lived up to its reputation as a happening place during the weekend of August 21-23. That's because the thousands of Burt Reynolds fans who attended Comic Con were determined to get up close and personal with their idol. For those four days, Chicago unofficially became Burt Reynolds Town.

Even the other celebrities who were making guest appearances at Comic Con flocked to see the Oscar nominated star of almost 200 films including Smokey and the Bandit,Deliverance, and Starting Over. Among them were Kristy Swanson, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who got her start playing Reynolds' daughter on his popular BL Strykertelevision series. Pulling up a chair to chat about their mutual friend, the recently deceased Rowdy Roddy Piper, was WWE World Champion Sting. Reynolds' was especially happy to spend time with his Malone costar Scott Wilson, a visit that was laughingly interrupted by Bruce Campbell, who shared the small screen with Reynolds in Burn Notice. Even Full House star Jodie Sweetin dropped in for a "Hello" and a hug.

The highlight of the three day event was the Q&A hosted by Reynolds. Fans eagerly inquired about a wide variety of topics ranging from the X-files to his stunt work. In September, Burt Reynolds will be inducted into the Stuntman Hall of Fame, the only actor ever to be accorded this honor.

Despite P.T. Barnum's advice to "leave them wanting more," Reynolds, who has always appreciated and enjoyed his fans, stayed in the convention center until every person had his or her personal items signed at his booth. It was obvious from his smile, which seemed to grow bigger with each handshake, that the man with the famous mustache really was a man for all people.
