Actors Bridge Ensemble's acclaimed production of Sarah DeLappe's The Wolves and Cumberland County Playhouse's rendition of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street were named as the top shows of the year during Midwinter's First Night, the annual tribute to theater in Tennessee, held at Nashville's The Larry Keeton Theatre last Sunday night, January 13. After a run of sold out previews, Stantonbury Theatre's second in-house pantomime opens for the festive season tonight. Capital Stage launches its 14th season with the Sacramento Premiere of the 2017 Pultizer Prize Finalist The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe. This dramatic comedy follows nine teenage girls that make up the Wolves, an indoor soccer team, warming up before each game of the season. As they warm up and talk about life, the girls navigate the politics of their personal lives as well as politics of the larger world. Each team member struggles to discover their individuality while being part of the group. The resulting bonds that form are clear and undeniable.

The 2017 Relentless Award, in honor of Philip Seymour Hoffman, was presented Monday evening, June 25, 2018, to Gracie Gardner for her play Pussy Sludge.

The World Premiere of Don Nguyen's Hello, From the Children of Planet Earth opens tonight, on March 7 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project. Presented by The Playwrights Realm (Katherine Kovner, Founding Artistic Director; Roberta Pereira, Producing Director) and directed by Jade King Carroll, this philosophical, and tender comedy is split between the perspectives of a lesbian couple trying to conceive, and their potential-sperm-donor/aerospace engineer friend as they're stretched to contemplate the unknowns of their future.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) presents the World Premiere of AN ORDINARY MUSLIM, by NYTW Usual Suspect and 2017-18 Tow Foundation Playwright-in-Residence Hammaad Chaudry (Salaam, Mr. Bush), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Obie Award winner Jo Bonney(The Body of An American).
