Vladimir Jurowski leads a rare revival of Richard Strauss's epic Die Frau ohne Schattenbeginning November 7, in the acclaimed staging by the late Herbert Wernicke that had its Met premiere in 2001. Anne Schwanewilms, one of the world's leading Strauss sopranos, makes her Met debut as the Empress. Christine Goerke, a graduate of the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program who has recently emerged as a prominent international dramatic soprano, returns to the company after an absence of several seasons to sing the role of the Dyer's Wife. The cast also includes Torsten Kerl as the Emperor, Johan Reuter as Barak, and Ildikó Komlósi as the Nurse. On November 16, American soprano Meagan Miller will make her Met debut as the Empress. Rehearsals began the first week of February for Goodman Theatre's world premiere of A True History of the Johnstown Flood by Rebecca Gilman, whose work was most recently included in Time magazine's 'Best Theatre Productions of the Decade.' Commissioned by the Goodman and directed by Robert Falls, A True History of the Johnstown Flood runs March 13 – April 18, 2010 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre.

On Monday, November 19 television's tough-as-nails mob sister becomes Broadway's newest red-hot mama, when two-time Emmy Award nominee Aida Turturro ('The Sopranos') steps into the celebrated role of Matron 'Mama' Morton, the reigning cellblock diva of the hit musical Chicago. Joining Turturro is fellow 'Sopranos' co-star Vincent Pastore, who makes his Broadway stage debut as Roxie Hart's endearing but nearly invisible husband, Amos.
