According to the New York Times, an upcoming Menier Chocolate Factory production of Stephen Schwartz's PIPPIN could be headed to the Great White Way in the near future. Schwartz, who wrote the music and lyrics for the show, has chosen to 'pursue' this West End revival first, instead of the Diane Paulus-helmed production, which was aiming for a Broadway run in 2012-13.

Disney's THE LION KING at Mandalay Bay celebrated its second anniversary on the Strip this weekend. Since the show's debut in 2009, THE LION KING has captured the imagination of nearly one million locals and tourists. Talking to the UK Telegraph, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber tells the paper that The Wizard of Oz, which opens in February 2011 in London (and already has a $13+ million dollar advance) will play America next, with talks underway to do a television casting show for Dorothy as he's done in the UK. Britain's loss could be America's gain, however. 'A couple of the networks in the US have wanted to build something around what I do on TV, and I think with Oz something is definitely going to happen there. The X Factor juggernaut is going to be huge there next year but other networks are looking for something to go against it. Once we've found a Dorothy in the US, my instinct is to open the show in Kansas [Dorothy's home].'

After being forced to postpone the world premier of her lastest piece, THE JACKIE LOOK at the Country Club due to the venue's closing this fall, performance artist Karen Finley will now debut the piece at the Laurie Beechman on Saturday, January 23 at 7:30pm.
