LA Philharmonic's Ernest Fleischmann Passes Away At 85

It is with deep regret and sadness that the Los Angeles Philharmonic must announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Ernest Fleischmann. Ernest died surrounded by his family last evening, Sunday June 13, in his Los Angeles home after a long illness at the age of 85.

Tony-winner Christine Ebersole, Don Stephenson and Ciaran Sheehan are set to join Len Cariou, Melissa Errico and Jason Danieley in the Irish Repertory Theatre Annual Benefit Gala's concert performance of Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Loewe's Brigadoon at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on Monday, June 14 at 7 PM. Ebersole will play Meg, Stephenson will play Jeff, and Sheehan Harry in the one-night-only event. Melissa Errico stars as Fiona, Danieley as Tommy, her love interest, and Cariou Mr. Lundie, the keeper of the town's secret.

The President of the BC/EFA, Tom Viola, is receiving a Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre for his work as an individual this year, as the organization itself has already been singled out for their amazing work by the Tony committee. Here, Viola discusses his feelings on the Tonys, the origins of the many yearly benefits such as Broadway Bares and Easter Bonnet Competition, in addition to his earliest theatrical memories.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT) is to tape the Irish Repertory Theatre's hit revival of George Bernard Shaw's CANDIDA on April 21. As previously announced, the acclaimed production, which recently received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Revival, has been extended until Sunday, April 25 at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) in Manhattan.
