VIDEO: Works & Process Rotunda Project: Daniil Simkin: Falls the Shadow

In September 2017, Works & Process presented 'Falls the Shadow,' a site-specific work made in and for the Guggenheim rotunda. Created by American Ballet Theatre principal Daniil Simkin, the work featured performances by Simkin, ABT soloist Cassandra Trenary, Hubbard Street dancers Ana Lopez and Brett Conway; choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo; projections by Dmitrij Simkin; interactive media by Arístides Job García Hernández; and costumes by Dior.

Vineyard Theatre is presenting the world-premiere production of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE- an original dance play by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony-nominated playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT). THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE will extend until through Sunday, June 24.

BroadwayWorld has a first look at Alexei Ratmansky's Harlequinade. The all - new production of Harlequinade, staged by Ratmansky after the original by Marius Petipa, will be given its World Premiere by American Ballet Theatre on June 4, 2018. A comic ballet in two - acts, Harlequinade is set to music by Riccardo Drigo and first premiered in 1900 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, BroadwayWorld reported earlier today that Misty Copeland will be joining the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN next month. After New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild departs the show, Copeland will take over the role of Ivy for two weeks, beginning August 25th.
