In September 2017, Works & Process presented 'Falls the Shadow,' a site-specific work made in and for the Guggenheim rotunda. Created by American Ballet Theatre principal Daniil Simkin, the work featured performances by Simkin, ABT soloist Cassandra Trenary, Hubbard Street dancers Ana Lopez and Brett Conway; choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo; projections by Dmitrij Simkin; interactive media by Arístides Job García Hernández; and costumes by Dior.

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater, announced today the New York City dance organization's programming for its Fall '18 Winter '19 season. Showcasing extraordinary international and local artists, the upcoming Joyce season promises to offer something spectacular for all dance-lovers.

Programming for American Ballet Theatre's 2018 Fall season, October 17-28 at the David H. Koch Theater, was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. The season will feature World Premieres by Michelle Dorrance and Jessica Lang, as well as centennial tribute performances of Jerome Robbins's and Leonard Bernstein's Fancy Free. Vineyard Theatre is presenting the world-premiere production of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE- an original dance play by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony-nominated playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT). THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE will extend until through Sunday, June 24.

BroadwayWorld has a first look at Alexei Ratmansky's Harlequinade. The all - new production of Harlequinade, staged by Ratmansky after the original by Marius Petipa, will be given its World Premiere by American Ballet Theatre on June 4, 2018. A comic ballet in two - acts, Harlequinade is set to music by Riccardo Drigo and first premiered in 1900 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Dance Against Cancer producers Erin Fogarty and Daniel Ulbricht have partnered with the American Cancer Society to present the eighth annual fundraising event on Monday, May 7, 2018. The gala benefit brings together artists from leading dance companies from New York City and beyond for a night of performances and world premieres.

Chicago-based Big Foot Media (www.bigfootcreates.com) released a new music video today titled "Valse Triste," starring violinist Philippe Quint and The Joffrey Ballet's Christine Rocas. Set to a nearly forgotten Romantic gem, "Valse Triste" by Hungarian violinist and composer Ferenc von Vecsey, the video was directed by Tim Whalen, choreographed by Caitlin Meighan, written by Philippe Quint and co-produced by Big Foot Media andPhilippe Quint.

Few dancers reach the elite level of ballet; of that already small number only a fraction are black women. Misty Copeland shattered those barriers in 2015, making history as the first African American principal dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre (ABT).

On last night's LATE SHOW, as the first African American female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, guest Misty Copeland talked about bringing diversity to classical ballet.

The Richard B. On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland joined the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN on Tuesday, Augst 25th in the role of 'Ivy'. Copeland will be performing through September 6. The Huffington Post just unveiled a behind-the-scenes profile of her journey from rehearsals to opening night on Broadway, featuring interviews with Misty and her co-star Tony Yazbeck. Beginning last night, August 25, American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland made her Broadway debut as 'Ivy Smith' in the Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town, continuing in the role through the end of the musical's run on September 6.

On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, BroadwayWorld reported earlier today that Misty Copeland will be joining the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN next month. After New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild departs the show, Copeland will take over the role of Ivy for two weeks, beginning August 25th.
