BWW Reviews: STC Throws One WILD PARTY That Shouldn't Be Missed!
by Jay Irwin - Aug 16, 2013

It's a really good thing the air conditioning is working in the Seattle Center Armory because something has to cool the audience down after Sound Theatre Company's current production of "The Wild Party". Not only is it a sultry good time but the fear, love, lust, anger and danger coming off the cast is palpable.

BWW Reviews: STAGEright's ALL IN THE TIMING Filled with Quirky Laughs
by Jay Irwin - Jun 16, 2013

The great thing about a show with a series of short plays is that if the current short play just isn't working for you, wait ten minutes and you'll be on to the next one. The greater thing about David Ives' "All in the Timing" is that most of his short plays included are gems. And the greaterer thing about STAGEright's current production of "All in the Timing" is that, for the most part (there was really only one that left me saying "Huh?"), the cast and directors have woven together such a tight and well paced show that there's bound to be something for everyone and plenty of laughs for all.

BWW Reviews: THE GENE POOL at Annex Theatre
by Jay Irwin - Jun 4, 2011

In these ever changing days of what it is to be a family, we are seeing more and more portrayals in entertainment of same sex couples raising children. Such is the case with the latest endeavor from fledgling theater company Arouet with Christi Stewart-Brown's "The Gene Pool". And while the play itself doesn't really have anything groundbreaking or even new to say about families, same sex or otherwise, the production here infuses it with an engaging pace and contains some truly natural and honest performances.

Meet the Grays-an average family. Mira cooks, cleans, wears dresses, is sexually frustrated, and her spouse is a workaholic veterinarian. Their son is almost 18, has a new girlfriend that he wants to lose his virginity with, and is always hungry.

BWW Reviews: THE FIREBUGS from STAGEright Theatre
by BWW News Desk - Mar 26, 2011

Seattle's STAGEright Theatre is currently presenting the peculiar morality play, "The Firebugs" at Odd Duck Studio on Capitol Hill. A gritty little play about trying to outwit evil, the show is a quirky and fun game of cat and mouse that leaves you no wiser but wary.
