The Wildlife Conservation Society honored tonight Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation Chelsea Clinton, and WCS Trustee Diane Christensen for their commitments to saving elephants and protecting wildlife and wild places. Held at the WCS Central Park Zoo, the event-titled 'An Elephant's Tale'-highlighted the conservation plight of elephant populations in the forests and savannas of Africa and efforts to protect them from the illegal ivory trade.

Teenie Harris, Photographer: An American Story exhibit, a groundbreaking retrospective of works by African American photographer Charles 'Teenie' Harris (1908-1998), opens Thursday at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library. On loan from Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum of Art, the exhibit is making its premiere in the South and is sponsored by PNC Bank.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will kick off an Independence Day weekend of music entertainment at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, the Orchestra's summer home, beginning Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 8:00 p.m.* The Orchestra, led by conductor Bridget Michele Reischl, will perform patriotic sing-alongs with the U.S. Army Field Band Chorus, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, and feature post-concert fireworks.
