The Los Angeles based Festival of New American Musicals was formed specifically to cultivate new American musicals and nurture America's musical youth. SHOWSEARCH, the Festival's nation-wide search for the best ten minute musical written by 16-to-25-year-olds, will take place March 23rd in Los Angeles at the Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, in cooperation with the LAUSD.

Ka-Tet Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere of SMUDGE by two-time Emmy Award-winning writer Rachel Axler, directed by Allison Shoemaker, playing May 25 - June 23, 2013 at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago. SMUDGE features Ka-Tet company members Stevie Chaddock Lambert and Scott Allen Luke with Andrew Marchetti.

Soldiers' characters are put to the test in Raven Theatre's A Soldier's Play by Charles Fuller, directed by Michael Menendian. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Raven Theatre, 6157 N. Clark, with a reception following in Raven's lobby. Paper Mill Playhouse presents A Chorus Line, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical conceived, choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, with book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Edward Kleban. Alene Haehl Named New Executive Director for HSPVA Friends

The Board of Directors of HSPVA Friends has named Alene Haehl as its new executive director, succeeding Mary Martha Lappe, who retired in May after serving in that role since the organization was founded in 1997. A graduate of HSPVA, Haehl comes to the job following several years as a consultant with AndrisinAbbey, LLC, a boutique consulting firm for nonprofit organizations, where she guided many organizations through strategic growth of their development programs. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University's University Professors Program with a cross-disciplinary degree in the Management and Development of Non-Profit Organizations.

A uniquely theatrical event that melds puppetry, live actors, original music and video, D is for Dog will open as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival tonight, June 8 and continue to run at the Hudson Mainstage through August 4. (Please note: PG-13 for thematic material - not suitable for young children.)

Katie Polebaum has created an original piece of theatre that cleverly mixes the innocence of the past with the horrors of the future in D is for Dog now playing at Studio/Stage in Hollywood. What is most intriguing about Dog is its employment of video and puppetry along with the six actors in telling the bizarre sci-fi story.
