Now in its 17th year, Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) has gone from being a small fish in the big opera sea to being a well-respected program that is landing top-notch talent. So much so that the six-week event began scheduling all of its opera performances during a two-week mini-festival, Opera In Paradise, so opera lovers can feast on 15 performances, master classes, free talks and more from July 15 - 29.

The Atlanta Opera, one of the nation's finest regional opera companies enriching lives through the power of opera, concludes its 2012-2013 season with a production of Gioachino Rossini's The Italian Girl in Algiers. This will be the first time The Atlanta Opera has produced this opera, and it will be presented tonight, April 27, and April 30, May 3 and 5 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

The Metropolitan Opera's 2013-14 season will feature many of the world's greatest singers, conductors, and theater artists in 26 operas, including six new productions, of a varied repertory that ranges from the Baroque era to the 21st century. For its seventh season Boston Midsummer Opera (BMO) presents the comic piece, Donizetti's Don Pasquale, playing at the Tsai Performance Center at Boston University for three performances only, tonight, July 25, 27, and 29. Obie Award winner/Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton directs the fully staged and costumed production. Music director and nationally acclaimed conductor Susan Davenny Wyner leads the performances, which will be performed with orchestra and sung in English. Metropolitan Opera bass Ricardo Lugo will sing the role of Don Pasquale.

Atlanta Opera Zurich General Director Dennis Hanthorn today announced the Atlanta Opera's 2012-2013 season. The Atlanta Opera's 2012-2013 mainstage productions at the Cobb Energy Centre will feature Bizet's popular classic Carmen, November 10-18, 2012; Verdi's tragic and romantic opera La traviata, March 2-10, 2013; and Rossini's comic opera The Italian Girl in Algiers, April 27-May 5, 2013. General Director Evan Luskin and Artistic Director Ward Holmquist today announced the 2011-2012 season of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City which will be the first season in the new Muriel Kauffman Theatre in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City opens its 53rd season with Carmen. This will be the Company's final season in the Lyric Theatre. Beginning in the fall of 2011, the Lyric Opera will perform at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

The Boston Midsummer Opera has just announced that it will present TROUBLE AND CHOCOLATE, pairing Leonard Bernstein's one-act opera TROUBLE IN TAHITI with Lee Hoiby's BON APPETIT!, a musical transcription of one of Julia Child's shows starring Tony Award®-winning Broadway veteran Judy Kaye. The productions will be presented on July 28 and 30 and August 1, 2010.
