Local Theater Company announces their fall world premiere: Flame Broiled. or the ugly play, written and directed by Rodney Hicks.

Variety reports that the Tony-winning team behind 'Come From Away' will develop a new CW drama with comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: 'How to Get Run Over by a Truck,' based on a memoir by Katie McKenna.

Few people seem to be familiar with Lerner & Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Those who are usually mention the 1969 film of the same title, starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood, known for being a ridiculously miscast and embarrassingly terrible flop. The musical, which originally appeared on Broadway in 1951, is similarly messy, and has gone pretty much unproduced for decades. Fortunately, however, playwright Jon Marans has redrafted the book, top-to-bottom, enhancing both the story line and its characters, and the result is a shiny-new masterpiece with new orchestrations and new dance and vocal arrangements. It is now an entirely enjoyable musical, complex in its structure, with an interesting setting, compelling plot, nuanced layers, appropriate social commentary, and characters...

The Muny's sixth production of its 101st Season, Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon, officially opened on July 27, 2019.

The new musical HART ISLAND by Michelle Elliott and Danny Larsen (The Yellow Wood) and directed by Jerry Dixon, recently premiered at The Village Theater as a part of their New Works Program. Come From Away veteran Rodney Hicks, sings a track from the show below- his first time since being told two years ago that he wouldn't sing again because of a  Spasmodic Dysphonia diagnosis. Local Theater Company's Founding Artistic Director Pesha Rudnick and Executive Producer Alison Palmer announced the Company's 2019/20 Season - Less virtual. More reality. Recently awarded a National Theatre Company Grant by the Ameri- can Theatre Wing (presenters of the Tony Awards), Local returns to the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder with two world premiere productions, Flame Broiled...or the ugly play by Rodney Hicks and Sin Eaters by Anna Moench, and Local Lab 2020, Boulder's premier three-day festi- val of new American plays.

The Muny announced today its complete cast, design and production team for Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon, the sixth show of its second century, July 27 – August 2. Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon is proudly sponsored by Ameren.     

A limited edition two LP yellow vinyl set of the original Broadway cast recording of COME FROM AWAY will be released on Friday, May 31. The vinyl will be available exclusively online and in store at Barnes and Noble. The vinyl lacquers were cut by Clint Holley at Well Made Music and the records were pressed at Memphis Record Pressing. David Lai, Ian Eisendrath, August Eriksmoen, Irene Sankoff and David Hein serve as album producers.

Boulder-based Local Theater Company(Local) announces selections for its eighth annual Local Lab New Play Festival taking place March 15-17 at Dairy ARTS Center, including 'Flame Broiled. or the ugly play,' by Broadway actor and Colorado resident Rodney Hicks, 'Discount Ghost Stories' by Alexander Sage Oyen and Colorado resident Jessica Kahkoska, and 'Orange Crush' by Daniel Goldstein, presented in partnership with Roundabout Theatre in New York City.

Deadline reports that Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, To All the Boys I've Loved Before),  Levi Dylan (grandson of Bob Dylan), Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids, Nashville), and Carlos PenaVega (Spare Parts, Big Time Rush) will star in Mighty Oak, directed by Sean McNamara.

Following in the footsteps of Grease and A Christmas Story, the network will be presenting Jonathan Larson's Rent, a rock musical that is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera, La boheme. The story follows a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Disney Theatrical Productions just celebrated its first stage-to-television collaboration with the Disney Channel in adapting its original stage musical Freaky Friday for a worldwide televised premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, August 10th.
