The University Press of Kentucky has partnered with Kentucky Humanities on its new statewide literacy project, Kentucky Reads: All the King's Men. The program will use Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel to guide a statewide conversation on contemporary populism and political discourse and their relationship to journalism. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Kentucky Humanities will host a series of community discussions and events centered on Warren's celebrated work and what it can teach us today.

Gamut Theatre Group is thrilled to announce its 2018-19 season will now open with William Shakespeare's exciting and epic saga Pericles, Prince of Tyre. This production will run from November 3 -25 on the Select Medical Mainstage at Gamut's beautiful theatre in downtown Harrisburg. Thomas Weaver, Gamut's Associate Artistic Director and director of Gamut's recent Free Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, is set to direct.

Thirteen new independent feature projects from the U.S., Cuba, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, and Palestine have been selected for the 2018 Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Labs. At the Directors Lab (May 28-June 21), filmmakers will rehearse, shoot and edit key scenes from their scripts, working closely with industry advisors, actors, and production crews to help drive creative growth via an immersive and hands-on experience at the Sundance Resort in Utah. The Screenwriters Lab from June 23-28  fosters a similar environment of dynamic inspiration as participants focus on the art and craft of screenplay writing with one-on-one support from Institute advisors . Overseen by Feature Film Program Founding Director Michelle Satter and Labs Director Ilyse McKimmie, the Labs begin a year-round continuum of customized support for Fellows, which can include creative mentorship, granting, and guidance from industry professionals. 

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) announced that Christopher Llewyn Ramirez will be joining the Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company at the beginning of the 2018-2019 season. 

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) presents the world premiere of The Trials of Sam Houston by Aaron Loeb at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Directed by DTC Enloe/Rose Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty, The Trials of Sam Houston begins on April 20 and runs through May 13.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) presents The Great Society at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. A co-production with the Alley Theatre and directed by DTC Enloe/Rose Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty, The Great Society begins on March 9 and runs through April 1. Dallas Theater Center will host a curated conversation featuring insights into the world-premiere play Miller, Mississippi on Aug. 21 at the Beckley-Saner Recreation Center, located at 114 W Hobson Ave., Dallas, Texas 75224. In a moderated panel discussion, Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company members Alex Organ and Liz Mikel will discuss their experiences, and how they have informed their approach to the characters they portray in Miller, Mississippi. Moderated by Amber Sims, this conversation will address advantage and what happens 'when tradition is sacred, and change is slow'. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with food donated by Babe's Chicken Dinner House, followed by the conversation at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $30,000 to Dallas Theater Center (DTC) to support the upcoming world-premiere production of Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure. The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

The 2017 edition presents an array of performances and events exploring and celebrating diversity in all its forms-often blurring the lines between genres including dance, music, theater and the visual arts-over the course of 100+ performances and events spanning 17 projects at 31 unique sites across Lower Manhattan and Governors Island. The Festival also offers opportunities for audiences to interact with artists, socialize and experience multiple facets of artists' work and the creative process.
