As a new year begins, Connecticut's professional theater scene offers many exciting viewing opportunities including premieres of new shows as well as some old some old favorites. What shows am I most looking forward to? Here are some tops picks for 2016:

The 11th Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre, kicks off its much-anticipated three-day festival of brand-new works on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of a new Southern Gothic musical, We Foxes by Ryan Scott Oliver.

New York Stage and Film just presented its annual Winter Gala, honoring star of stage and screen Bill Pullman, whose decades-long career includes starring roles in the blockbuster film Independence Day, While You Were Sleeping and Broadway's The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia; as well as 2-time Tony Award-winner and 11-time nominee Donald Holder, lighting designer of Broadway's The Lion King, The King & I, and the upcoming Fiddler on the Roof revival, among countless others.

Sean Cassidy, President of DKC Public Relations, Marketing and Government Relations, announced today that legendary theatrical press agent and sole principal behind O&M Co., Rick Miramontez, will be joining the company to create DKC/O&M. Also joining DKC will be O&M Co.'s top executives Andy Snyder (Creative Director) and Molly Barnett (VP, Theatrical Division), along with other key staffers from the firm.

Two arts news staples -- the New York Post and the New York Daily News -- are cutting back on their coverage.

Since then an official site for the tour has gone up, but don't get too excited. Rick Miramontez, spokesman for ALW, has since given the following statement: 'Everyone at Really Useful Group is excited about the prospects of 'Love Never Dies' coming to America, but there is no set tour at present.'

The New York Times writes that Abbott & Costello's estate has sued Broadway's Hand to God because of its use of their classic 'Who's on First?' sketch.

According to the New York Times, The Last Ship, for which Sting earned a 2015 Tony nomination, will play Norway, Sweden and Finland in the coming years. Sting's spokesperson Rick Miramontez told NYT that the musical will be performed in th native language of each country when it arrives in Oslo (2016) and in Stockholm and Helsinki in (2017).

BroadwayWorld has just learned that the Phantom will soon return to America in the continuation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's most beloved musical. Love Never Dies is set to tour North America in 2017. This is the highly acclaimed follow up musical to the 1986 love story The Phantom of the Opera set against the spellbinding backdrop of Coney Island. A German production is also set to open in Hamburg this fall.  Casting has not yet been announced.

FINDING NEVERLAND producer Harvey Weinstein and O&M Public Relations Company press agent Rick Miramontez parted ways in January under less-than-civil circumstances. But now Deadline reveals that Miramontez is back with the musical's team, ready to promote happy thoughts with the best of them.

World-renowned maestro and violinist Itzhak Perlman just headlined a concert and gala celebrating National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's 100th anniversary and honoring legendary financier and philanthropist Sanford I. Weill and Broadway impresario Jordan Roth last night, at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street and Seventh Avenue. NYTF is the longest consecutively-producing Jewish Arts company in the world.

The new American play Hand to God has now begun rehearsals and will open on Broadway on April 7, 2015 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), marking the Broadway debut of playwrightRobert Askins. Hand to God is directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel in his Broadway debut with previews beginning at the Booth Theatre on Saturday, March 14, 2015 ahead of the April 7th opening. Now according to the New York Post, similar drama is going down at Broadway's Honeymoon in Vegas. Michael Riedel revealed that Miramontez's O&M will soon take over tor the musical, which has been recently struggling at the box office, after press firm Boneau/Bryan-Brown resigned from the project. He writes: 'It didn't take Miramontez long to recover from Harvey's lashing. This week he joined 'Honeymoon in Vegas' after the veteran p.r. firm Boneau/Bryan-Brown resigned.'
