Sheffield Theatres Announces Full Casts for WAITING FOR GODOT and World Premiere of THE NAP

With the critically acclaimed Show Boat currently running in the Crucible, and Partus and A Raisin in the Sun in rehearsals, Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans announces the full casts for the forthcoming productions of Waiting For Godot and the world premiere of Richard Bean's comedy thriller The Nap, both at the Crucible this spring.

Former pro snooker player John Astley is among the full cast of Richard Bean's new play THE NAP, set to premiere at the Crucible Theatre starring SKINS' Jack O'Connell. The Daily Mail writes that Astley will be making his acting debut when the show begins on March 10 in Sheffield. The production, directed by Richard Wilson, runs through March 26, 2016.

Hosted by Julian Clary, with an introduction by Ian McKellen, the evening of song, speech and music was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Ian Charleson Day Centre at the Royal Free Hospital. It included performances by Michael Cashman, Rupert Everett, Anne Reid and Stefan Bednarczyk, the X Factor's Anton Stephans, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly, actor Jack Lowden and the London Gay Men's Choir. Speakers included Nick Partridge, Laurence Isaacson and Sean Mathias.

Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans today announces the company's most ambitious season to date. Highlights include three world premieres - of new plays from Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors), Chris Bush and a co-production with Third Angel, a new British musical, Flowers For Mrs Harris, by Richard Taylor and Rachel Wagstaff, a regional premiere of Mike Bartlett's (Bull, Doctor Foster) Contractions and two major new productions of 20th century classics - A Raisin In The Sun and Waiting For Godot.

Jack O'Connell, perhaps best known from the TV series SKINS and the films STARRED UP and '71, is returning to the stage in ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS writer Richard Bean's THE NAP at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield next month. Richard Wilson will direct the show, which runs March 10-26, 2016.
