Broadwayworld had the pleasure of interviewing Crossroads Theatre Company's Artistic Director, Ricardo Khan about his career and the season ahead.

The Grammy award-winning, internationally renowned a capella group, Sweet Honey in the Rock® is featured in the world-premiere of Crossroads Theatre Company’s production of 'When Day Comes.' The Theatre’s Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Ricardo Khan wrote this captivating, powerful musical show in collaboration with the Sweet Honey in the Rock company.

The powerful and inspirational voices of the Grammy®-winning internationally known a capella group Sweet Honey in the Rock® provide the soundtrack for the world-premiere of Crossroads Theatre Company’s inaugural production of “When Day Comes,” written and directed by Crossroads Co-Founder and Artistic Director Ricardo Khan.

The season features nine productions exploring stories of contemporary culture, heroic activists, everyday people in extraordinary times, and lots of music. In its 50th season, ASF continues its mission of building community with captivating stories for that speak to and represent all people in the South. 

Crossroads Festival Theatre consists of two installments: Fall Festival and Spring Festival, running September 22 – October 10, and June 7 to June 26, 2022, respectively.

Crossroads Theatre Company's Genesis Festival of New Plays will stream over several virtual platforms at 7:00 p.m. (EST) April 14 – 17, Crossroads and partner Hi-ARTS announced.

Crossroads Theatre Company is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of New Jersey Network’s documentary about the theatre with a special stream on its Home with Crossroads virtual platform running April 4 through May 2, 2021.

The artistry, excellence and advocacy of the late Cicely Tyson will be spotlighted at Crossroads Theatre Company’s annual fundraising gala A Night with Crossroads to be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7pm, the Crossroads Board of Trustees announced today. 

A presentation of excerpts of the musical drama Sheila's Day is being streamed as part of Crossroads Theatre Company's commemorative programming celebrating Women's History Month.  It will stream March 2 through March 23 on the Crossroads website. 

An encore production of the famed play The Colored Museum is being streamed as part of Crossroads Theatre Company's commemorative programming celebrating Black History Month February 2 – 28, 2021.  The play, written by Crossroads' alumni and famed Broadway director George C. Wolfe premiered at the theatre in 1986.  It was first directed by Crossroads Co-Founder L. Kenneth Richardson.  

Zhailon Levingston will be the featured guest of the third segment of Crossroads’ Emerging Artist Series hosted by Crossroads’ co-founder Ricardo Khan. The program, Emerging Artist: André’s Choice, will stream on the Home with Crossroads virtual platform January 19-31.

Tony Award-winning Broadway veteran André De Shields appears on Crossroads Theatre Company virtual stage to present excerpts of his musical Haarlem Nocturne that will be interspersed with his reflections about creating the work, co-writing, directing and starring in the production. 

Tony® Award winning actress Melba Moore comes home to Crossroads Theatre Company for an encore performance of Melba Moore: Sweet Songs of the Soul that will be streaming on Crossroads’ website December 1 thru January 3.  The production, written and performed by Moore, made its debut during Crossroads 2007-2008 Season.

Crossroads Theatre Company's first Emerging Artists program of the 2020/2021 online season will focus on South Africa's prestigious Market Theatre Laboratory.  Offered on Crossroads' on-line platform, the program will stream November 17 - November 29 at www.crossroadstheatrecompany.org. 

The conversations, which will be recorded live at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) with a limited audience comprised of Crossroads members and streamed for public viewing, are being co-presented by the NAACP of New Brunswick. 

 Crossroads Theatre Company members, patrons and supporters will be able to experience a free of charge, live on-line performance event produced by the Kennedy Center in partnership with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance before Crossroadsa?? season opener. 

An exclusive viewing party of the first production to kick-off Crossroads Theatre Company's 2020-2021 season is being offered to the theatre's members on Sunday, October 4 at 4pm Eastern time via ZOOM. The Members Only event will feature Crossroads alumnus Anna Deavere Smith's film Twilight: Los Angeles 1992.
