Joe Iconis, who the New York Times called 'The Future of Musical Theatre' has his past throughly implanted at Barrington Stage Company. BSC, Julianne Boyd, artistic director and the William Finn Musical Theatre Lab have been an integral part of Joe's life. Last night he brought his family of supremely talented singers and musicians to the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage for a wild finale to another great season at the award winning theatre in Pittsfield Ma. In two one-act plays, the chance meeting and 'catch-up' conversation between two women, furthers and reveals a bond of friendship based on past experiences and higher education. The work, as presented by Cesear's Forum, is entitled PLATH & ORION and comprises Lanford Wilson's THE GREAT NEBULA IN ORION and Greg Cesear's PLATH, SEXTON AND THE ART OF CONFESSION.

On Today, October 20, 2017, composer Scott Wollschleger releases his debut portrait album, Soft Aberration, on New Focus Recordings.

On Monday, November 20, 2017 at 8:30pm at Spectrum in Brooklyn (70 Flushing Ave, Garage A), pianist Karl Larson performs Part I of the complete piano works of Scott Wollschleger, a composer whose distinct musical language has been described as evocative and kaleidoscopic by The New York Times. Part II takes place on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 8:30pm at Spectrum.

War is hell and, as highlighted in Last of the Boys, its aftermath is often worse. Kudos to Sean Derry and his cast for creating a compelling evening of theater. This is must see theater for anyone interested in fine acting and a more real than life picture of the outcomes of combative and emotional wars on human beings.

Stephen Sondheim was in the audience at Barrington Stage Company's production of COMPANY the night before, but last night it was all about Joe Iconis and family appearing on the dark Mainstage for a one night concert as COMPANY rested for the evening.  Mr. Sondheim was  highly enthusiastic for the Julianne Boyd directed COMPANY and spent time with Aaron Tveit and the cast after the show.  It was an historic evening for the BSC community as Stephen Sondheim was generous with his praise for all involved with the production, which is the talk of the Berkshires this season.
