San Diego Musical Theatre has announced that after producing its critically-acclaimed productions at the Lyceum Theatre in downtown San Diego for the past several seasons, they will be moving into their new home (where their first production of The Full Monty began!), the Birch North Park Theatre, to present the first production of its new 2012 season of shows, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, created and directed by Roger Bean, with musical direction by Don LeMaster.

WINTER WONDERETTES is the second show of the 59th Season and will perform at the beautiful 1,070-seat Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach for a limited nine performance run from December 9 through December 18, 2011.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that the Off-Broadway hit musical LYSISTRATA JONES, which closes on Friday at the Judson Memorial Church is hoping to move to Broadway (with a search led by General Manager Alan Wasser) in the fall with a budget between $6-7 million at a small house, ideally the Broadhurst or the Walter Kerr.

Transport Group Theatre Company, the winner of a special Drama Desk Award and two OBIE Awards, presents the New York premiere of LYSISTRATA JONES, a new musical with a book by Douglas Carter Beane; music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn; directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges. Previews began Sunday May 15 on the basketball court of the Judson Memorial Church Gymnasium, 243 Thompson Street at Washington Square South. Opening is Sunday, June 5, at 8pm.

Maine State Music Theatre opens its 53rd season with an Off-Broadway musical comedy hit, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, which runs from June 8th through June 25th at the Pickard Theater in Brunswick.

Theatre on Fire closes its sixth season at the Charlestown Working Theater with something never before seen on a U.S. Stage: BLACKADDER II: LIVE. TOF is adapting the classic British TV comedy - voted 2nd best of all time - to the stage for the 25th anniversaryof its original broadcast. First aired in 1986, the Blackadder series made many of its cast into worldwide household names, including Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Miranda Richardson.
