On the heels of its Tony® Award win for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder brought its award home to the Walter Kerr Theatre yesterday, June 18, to allow fans to pose with the prized medallion immediately following that day's matinee performance. In a special, unprecedented ceremony, fans were invited to hold the 2014 Tony® Award for Best Musical and pose for photos in front of the theater (219 West 48th Street). On the heels of its Tony® Award win for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murderwill bring its award home to the Walter Kerr Theatre on Wednesday, June 18, to allow fans to pose with the prized medallion immediately following that day's matinee performance. In a special, unprecedented ceremony beginning at 4:45 p.m., fans will be invited to hold the 2014 Tony® Award for Best Musical and pose for photos in front of the theater (219 West 48th Street). This event is open to the public, and will end at 6:00 p.m.

Darko Tresnjak won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER. This is Darko Tresnjak's first Tony nomination and his Broadway debut. He is the artistic director of Connecticut's Hartford Stage. He has directed at Theatre for a New Audience, The Public Theater, Old Globe, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Royal Shakespeare Company Complete Works Festival, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Huntington Theatre Company, Goodspeed Musicals, Long Wharf Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Vineyard Theater, and Los Angeles Opera.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder 's Robert L. Freedman has won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical. Freedman received the Fred Ebb and Kleban awards for the musicals A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Campaign of the Century with Steven Lutvak, and was nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild awards for the television miniseries Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows.

Just last night, Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) hosted the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street).

Jefferson Mays to Tour GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE?

Jefferson Mays has found his niche role in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in which he plays 9 different characters and changes costume 15 times throughout the show. The line outside the Walter Kerr Theatre at the end of each show is insanely long with audience members waiting to applaud his performance. Even Mays' wife, Susan Lyon, commented, 'This is almost as many people as they have for James Franco, [in Of Mice and Men].' And now, according to The New York Times, there is some good news for the after-life of this musical: Jefferson Mays is considering touring with the production.
