Two character plays either work effectively or not at all. There's no in between. It takes a tight rapport between the actors to create a believable scenario. Chad Borden and Robert J. Townsend have such a chemistry that works divinely in The Story of My Life, a musical drama that is sweetly poetic and universally relevant. Havok Theatre's loving production could not be better.

The Havok Theatre Company will present their production of the short-lived Broadway musical THE STORY OF MY LIFE, beginning February 26th. The show will begin previews on February 24th and will close April 4th. The two-man show will star Robert J. Townsend and Chad Borden.

Actor/producing director of Havok Theatre Company Chad Borden has been treading the boards in LA theatre for many years, this year being Ovation nominated for his portrayal of Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman, which won Production of a Musical in an Intimate Space at the Ovations last night. LONG BEACH, CA-Just a little over two months after RENT's current Broadway National Tour made a tour stop in nearby Costa Mesa, Musical Theater West debuts the first L.A.-area professional regional production of RENT at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts. Their production of the multiple Tony Award-winning musical, which continues for two weeks until December 20, stars former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy 'culture vulture' Jai Rodriguez in the role of Angel, a role he also stepped into during the latter part of the groundbreaking, Pulitzer prize winning show's 12 year run on Broadway. The material (based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme) is extremely familiar to many of the show's rabid fans. And, as evidenced by the opening night's capacity audience, 'RENT-heads' (as fanatics of the show are lovingly called) come in droves to see and hear this popular musical (even in the pouring rain-a rarity here in Southern California).
