One of the world's most distinctive singing voices, Michael McDonald is often imitated but never duplicated. He's had enough humility over the years to blend his voice with others, whether as a member of Steely Dan, a Doobie Brother, and as a highly successful solo artist and songwriter. More recently, his collaborations have included being a member of the supergroup the Dukes of September, as well as reaching the Coachella generation as a celebrated co-star on Thundercat's indie hit "Show You the Way."

The Delaware Valley will light up for the holiday season with Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies in four major neighborhoods and towns. Downtown Ardmore, South Street Headhouse District, East Passyunk Avenue and Old City District will all light up their Christmas and Holiday trees in the coming weeks - with Downtown Ardmore on Black Friday, November 23rd at 6:00pm in Schauffele Plaza, East Passyunk Business Avenue Business Improvement District on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 5:00pm at the Singing Fountain, Old City District and Historic Holidays in Old City continues on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 5:00pm at the Betsy Ross House, and South Street Headhouse District on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 4:00pm at the Historic Headhouse Shambles. Santa Claus is coming to town and will join the celebration in Downtown Ardmore, on South Street and on East Passyunk Avenue. He will arrive by Fire Truck in Ardmore and on South Street. On East Passyunk, look for him to make a surprise entrance.

The Marsh San Francisco presents Irma Herrera's solo show Why Would I Mispronounce My Own Name?, a new work that weaves history and comedic insights into stories about names, shedding light and throwing shade on societal prejudices and assumptions. When giving her name its correct Spanish pronunciation, she often gets the "where are you from?" question. The assumption: that she is a foreigner. Irma's family has been in South Texas for generations, and the award-winning social justice activist, lawyer, and journalist thinks of herself as American as apple pie. Irma's notes from American history and laugh out-loud humor invite audience members to consider what it will take for everyone to get along. Post-show talkbacks, featuring experts in everything from civil liberties to laws related to baby naming, will be offered throughout the run.

The hysterical, gory tradition of Evil Dead: The Musical is returning to the City Theatre starting September 27th inside Hockeytown Cafe in Detroit. The cult classic is a favorite here in the Motor City, which is the reason it is back for a tenth season packed full of talented local cast members - some brand new and others excitedly welcomed back. Evil Dead: The Musical is based on Sam Raimi's 1980's cult classic films and have all the horror, gore, and theatre campiness that audience members want. Director and producer, Jamie Warrow, took time out of her busy schedule before the show opens on September 27th at the City Theatre to speak with BroadwayWorld Detroit about her love for the production, what it has been liking working on it for the past ten years, and what makes this year of Evil Dead: The Musical so special.

Overtone Presents New Ritualistic Opera CYNOSEMMA

Overtone Industries, in collaboration with By The Souls of Our Feet (BTSOOF), is proud to present Part I of their epic tale, Cynosemma: A Dirge from the Dog's Tomb, running for four performances over the weekend of Friday, August 17th through Sunday, August 19, 2018. Co-Directed by Nathan Singh and Sabina Zuniga Varela with music by O-Lan Jones and libretto by Megan Breen, Cynosemma is a ritualistic opera ripped from the myth of Hecuba. Part I is a ceremonial exploration of the ancient but immediate clash between possession and liberation. The infamous Queen of Troy (played by Jones), along with her daughters and a tribe of women face off with the men responsible for the fall of their city. The limited engagement will take place at Son of Semele (3301 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90004). Audience members are invited to stay afterwards for refreshments and a post-show symposium.
