Philanthropist and jewelry designer Joan Hornig will receive the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award presented annually by The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) to Americans who have made it their mission to share with those less fortunate their wealth of knowledge, indomitable courage, boundless compassion, unique talents and selfless generosity; all while maintaining the traditions of their ethnic heritage as they uphold the ideals and spirit of America. The awards will be presented May 10 on historic Ellis Island at an elegant ceremony and dinner that embodies the spirit of America in their celebration of patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity. The Sunshine Committee of the Friars Club hosted a Holiday Party and special film screening of Sony Pictures Animation's 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2' at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. For over twenty-five years, the Friars Club Sunshine Committee, which is funded through an annual holiday raffle held at the club, has been providing entertainment, companionship and tons of love to senior citizens, musicians, comedians or performance artists to brighten up the residents of nursing homes, or providing clowns, magicians and entertainment for disadvantaged children in group homes, the Sunshine Committee is dedicated to enhancing each and every life they touch. Friars members who handed out gifts to the children after the movie were, Former Mayor David Dinkens, Former New York Ranger Rod Gilbert, NY Yankee Broadcaster Michael Kay, Former NY Knick Cal Ramsey, Pix News Marvin Scott, Pix News Jodi Applegate, and Boxing Champ Michael Spinks.

and the band was born. Backed by a live band, MY BODY gained momentum on

Pure Bathing Culture and Wild Ones before relocating to Brooklyn, NY in

NECO will present the 26th Annual Ellis Island Medal of Honor Ceremony on Ellis Island at 6:30 p.m. The Ceremony will be followed by a Gala Dinner in the historic Great Hall. WPIX-11 Senior Correspondent Marvin Scott and renowned entertainer Tom Dreesen will be the Masters of Ceremony.

MSG Network received a whopping 60 nominations Thursday for the 54th Annual New York Emmy Awards. Among the other regional sports networks, the YES Network notched 46 nominations, while MSG Varsity picked up 32 nods. SNY was recognized 23 times.
