The Los Angeles based Festival of New American Musicals was formed specifically to cultivate new American musicals and nurture America's musical youth. SHOWSEARCH, the Festival's nation-wide search for the best ten minute musical written by 16-to-25-year-olds crowned its winners March 23rd in Los Angeles at the Ramon C. FNAM and Darren Criss Launch 'Show Search' for New Musical Theatre Writers

The Festival of New American Musicals (FNAM's) spokesperson, Darren Criss (Glee) and executive producers Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are announcing the first annual nationwide search for emerging young musical theatre writers. It is called FNAM's Show Search. FNAM is looking for the next 'Stephen Schwartz' (Wicked), and now some of the best up-and coming musical theatre talent will have the opportunity to showcase their work via an online search at www.festivalofnewamericanmusicals.org to find FNAM's 'Best New Musical.'

On Monday, February 15 The Festival of New American Musicals' newly formed Academy for Young Professionals presented day-long master classes in vocal performance and auditioning at the Edgemar Theatre in Santa Monica. 42 high school and college students, ages 15-22, participated in this exciting new program that helps theatrically talented students prepare how to best market themselves for a very competitive musical theatre career. Casting director Michael Donovan, choreographer Joe Schenck, and musical theatre veterans Amanda McBroom and Karen Morrow presented classes from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
