Super songs from Jack Terroni rescue a play with music in which dramatic potential takes a back seat to didactic proselytising

The cast has been announced for Punchy! The Musical, a brand new musical at The Courtyard Theatre. This raucous, affecting piece of gig-theatre brings the soulful sounds of the 1950s to the heart of Hoxton.  Robert Hook (Peaky Blinders, BBC; The Milkman's on His Way) will take on the lead role of the wayward and conflicted George 'Punchy' Armstrong.

Set primarily in Los Angeles, where Judy Garland is filming a new CBS television series, The Judy Garland Show - one of many comebacks the ill-fated star made in her later life, Ray Rackham's play Through the Mill reveals a snapshot of Garland's tumultuous story, honing in on three key periods in her life.

Ray Rackham's July Garland musical THROUGH THE MILL comes to Southwark Playhouse this summer. It features musical supervision and arrangement by Simon Holt, musical direction by Jordan Li Smith, choreography by Chris Whittaker, set design by Johnson Williams and sound design by Ed Shaw. The three actresses from the THROUGH THE MILL's original run will once again portray Judy Garland at three pivotal stages in her life - Helen Sheals (CBS Judy), Belinda Wollaston (Palace Judy) and Lucy Penrose (Young Judy). at Southwark Playhouse. They will be joined by a further cast of nine actor-musicians, playing a variety of historical figures who featured heavily in Garland's biography. The production will run 6-30 July 2016 with an official press night of Friday, 8 July.
