Playwrights Horizons Begins LIVEforFIVE Ticketing for THE FLICK

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Friday, February 8, for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to the World Premiere of THE FLICK, a new play by Obie Award winner Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation at Playwrights Horizons/PH, The Aliens, her recent adaptation of Uncle Vanya), directed by Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, Kin and The Big Meal at PH; Seminar and the current Picnic on Broadway). The LIVEforFIVE lottery for THE FLICK will be for tickets to the first preview on Friday evening, February 15 at 8PM at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) presents the World Premiere of THE FLICK, a new play by Obie Award winner Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation at PH, The Aliens, her recent adaptation of Uncle Vanya). Directed by Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, Kin and The Big Meal at PH; Seminar and the current Picnic on Broadway), the production will begin previews Friday evening, February 15 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 12 at 7PM. The limited engagement will play through Sunday, March 31 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). Colt Coeur's Play Hotel reading series will present an industry reading of Justin Kuritzkes' The Sensuality Party on Monday, January 14th at 7pm at 80 Varick Street in Manhattan. Directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Recall, Fish Eye, Seven Minutes in Heaven), the cast includes Lily Garrison (A Thought In Three Parts), Louisa Krause (The Flick), Drigan Lee (Six Degrees of Separation), Gayle Rankin (TRIBES), Cameron Scoggins (The Big Meal), and Matt Stadelmann (Seven Minutes in Heaven).

The 12th annual installment of the Coney Island Film Festival (named one of the '25 Coolest Film Festivals' by MovieMaker Magazine) hits the shores of Coney Island from Friday, September 21st through Sunday, September 23rd. This year's festival features 74 films from around the world; a stunning array of high and low-brow fare, as diverse as the neighborhood it represents. Subjects range from the profound to the profane, showcasing the independent spirit and irreverent nature of the one and only Coney Island.

This day of readings follows The ANT's first presentation Nobody Suspects a Butterfly, by Christine Henry. Branched will be performed at 4:00PM, and For Nina at 7:00PM. Admission is FREE to the public.

In addition to the four Competition categories, the Festival presents films in five out-of-competition sections to be announced tomorrow. The 2009 Sundance Film Festival runs January 15-25 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah.
