The North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY will be a part of Seattle's 2021-2022 Broadway season. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the North American tour will play The Paramount Theatre from Tuesday, December 28 through Sunday, January 2, 2022. 

John Bell the musical director for MY FAIR LADY is the man in charge of making sure that lush, gorgeous music sounds vibrant and expressive in every city they perform in.  John Bell talks about what exactly his job entails, the magic of an orchestra, and his favorite musical moments of the show.  MY FAIR LADY is playing at the San Diego Civic Theatre from November 30 -December 5th.

For its last installment of the 2021 Fall Puppet Forum Series, and in conjunction with the Hecho en Puerto Rico: Four Generations of Puerto Rican Puppetry exhibition, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host “Contemporary Puppetry in Puerto Rico” with exhibit co-curators Dr. Manuel Morán and Deborah Hunt, and puppeteers Pedro Adorno, and Tere Marichal on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. ET.

Bell Shakespeare has announced Philip Crutchfield QC has been appointed the new Chair of Bell Shakespeare, commencing 1 January 2022. He succeeds Anne Loveridge who steps down after seven years on the Bell Shakespeare Board and five in the role of Chair.

There's a brief appearance by a group of protest sign carrying suffragettes during a street scene in this Lincoln Center 2018 revival of Lerner and Loewe's classic musical My Fair Lady, and it may be the only bridge between this distinctly old-fashioned early 20th century Edwardian perspective and today's post-feminist world. This revival, nominated for 10 Tony Awards and directed by award winning director Bartlett Sher is a beautiful looking opportunity to experience one of musical theatre's greatest chestnuts.

The national tour of MY FAIR LADY opens October 7th in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre, running through October 31st. Bartlett Sher directs this timeless story of Professor Henry Higgins’ experiment to transform the social standings of Eliza Doolittle, a lowly flower girl, to one fitting comfortably in high society. MY FAIR LADY, brimming with familiar musical standards, stars Laird Mackintosh as Professor Higgins and Shereen Ahmed as Eliza Doolittle. Had the chance to catch Laird during his offstage time before his evening performance.

Returning to lead the cast are Shereen Ahmed as Eliza Doolittle, Laird Mackintosh as Professor  Henry Higgins, Leslie Alexander as Mrs. Higgins, Adam Grupper as Alfred P. Doolittle, Kevin  Pariseau as Colonel Pickering, Gayton Scott as Mrs. Pearce, and Sam Simahk as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.

And at the centre of this struggle is a young man's grief for a murdered father.

The evening will honor Tony Award winner Bill Irwin (On Beckett) and Mary Lou and Joe Quinlan, longtime members of the Irish Rep family both on and off stage.

For its third installment of the 2021 Spring Puppet Forum Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host “Working on Race and Ethnicity in Puppetry” with curator Dr. Jungmin Song and Ballard Institute Director John Bell on April 8 at 7 p.m. ET.
