Career Transition For Dancers presents the 10th anniversary LATIN DANCE PARTY on Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 at the beautiful Columbus Citizens Foundation, 8 East 69th Street (off Fifth Avenue), New York, New York 10021. Sponsored by Rolex Watch USA, the benefit includes cocktails/open bar & hors d'oeuvres at 7:00 pm, a three-course sit-down dinner at 8:00 pm, and dancing to the sounds of Louis Bauzo & Musicians along with a special performance by Arthur Murray Dance Center, Columbus Circle. There will also be a Latin dance lesson.

There was a happening on West 44th Street! For a week, Chita Rivera brought her joyful, razzle-dazzling nightclub act to Birdland, which she calls her favorite room in the city. “These walls are filled with the best music! Playing Birdland just makes me feel cool,” she proclaimed. As if her iconic Broadway career wasn't cool enough, “Chita's Back” was a concert for the history books – with the ever-youthful legend in fine fettle; singing, dancing and telling some of the best insider stories any theater-lover could hope for. Material from Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, West Side Story and The Visitwere included, as well as a James Taylor duet with daughter, Lisa Mordente. The swinging was band led by guitarist/percussionist Michael Croiter, with Michael Patrick Walker on piano, Jim Donica on bass, and Dan Willis on saxophone.

Angela Lansbury received the 2014 Rolex Dance Award. James Earl Jones, Ms. Lansbury's Driving Miss Daisy co-star, presented her with the award. The 2014 Career Transition For Dancers Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance Awards honorees went to Janice Galli Becker, Fe Saracino Fendi, and Joe Tremaine & Tremaine Dance Conventions & Competitions. Broadway dancer & choreographer Alex Sanchez has created a special number with some of the best dancers from the great white way for the show. The music has been composed by Steven Jamall, who is the Music Director and Supervisor for Rosie O'Donnell and her Rosie's Theater Kids.

At this year's dinner and holiday party, set for Dec. 15 at 9pm at LIPS Restaurant, Dancers Over 40 honors some of its outstanding - and long-time -- members: Advisory Board Members Chita Rivera (West Side Story, Bye, Bye Birdie, Bajour, Chicago, The Rink, Kiss of the Spiderwoman), and Bob Avian (Promises, Promises, Coco, Company, Follies, A Chorus Line, Ballroom), Board of Directors member Lawrence Merritt (Dear World, Applause, Pippin, Evita), and long-time DO40 members Skip Randall (Song of Norway, Make Mine Manhattan, Call Me Mister) and Louise Quick (Sweet Charity, Pippin, Best Little Whorehouse, and Fosse Assistant on Pippin, Liza with a Z and Cabaret). Also this year, DO40 is honoring Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Executive Director Tom Viola for his ongoing support of DO40 and our mission. This year's host is Christine Pedi (Chicago, Forbidden Broadway).
Luminario Ballet to Open 2013 World Dance Awards, 10/13

Sunday, October 13th at 7 PM Luminario Ballet is performing the opening number at the 2013 World Dance Awards, performing a short version of 'Brace...yourself', ( video: https://vimeo.com/69398891 )choreographed by Debra Lynne Brown, choreographer of 13 Cirque du Soleil shows. Ms. Brown was special guest choreographer for Luminario Ballet's Season 4 repertory shows, and the piece was most recently seen August 31st at the LA/SoCal Dance Invitational, at the historic outdoor summer venue, the Ford Amphitheater.

Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago (GJDC) and Point Park University will present Jazz Dance World Congress 2012, an international consortium of dancers and teachers to further the legacy of jazz dance and education. This five day educational event unites teachers, dancers, and choreographers from all over the world and will take place on the campus of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pa. from August 1-5, 2012, with additional classes and performances at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture and the Byham Theater.
