New Repertory Theatre Announces Gala 2017

On Tuesday evening, May 9, New Repertory Theatre will hold its annual Gala celebration at the historic Commander's Mansion at the Arsenal on the Charles in Watertown. New Repertory Theatre takes us for a ride in the wayback machine for the Boston-area premiere of one of Lydia Diamond's earliest plays. THE GIFT HORSE is a somewhat autobiographical, witty play that is heavy on character, rife with serious themes, and about fifteen to twenty minutes longer than what we are accustomed to two decades later. Obehi Janice, Alejandro Simoes, and Maurice Emmanuel Parent make the ride worthwhile.

BRECHT ON BRECHT is the second in New Rep's series of Prophetic Portraits, following Johnny Lee Davenport's acclaimed portrayal in last month's THURGOOD. Brecht's art focuses on his experiences in Berlin, his flight from Nazism, and his life as an expatriate in America, where he faced accusation by the House Un-American Activities Committee. The 90-minute show is a revue of words and music, arranged by George Tabori, with direction by Jim Petosa and music direction by Matthew Stern.

New Repertory Theatre Installs Permanent Hearing Loop System

New Repertory Theatre in association with the Arsenal Center for the Arts is proud to announce that all productions in the Charles Mosesian Theater will now be hearing loop enabled. This innovative wireless technology will allow patrons with Telecoil enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants to hear speech and music from on stage clearly and directly. Headsets will also be available for those patrons without Telecoil enabled devices.
