Maurice Hines to Emcee 2018 Arena Stage Gala with Mary McBride as Headliner

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Director Edgar Dobie are pleased to announce that Broadway legend Maurice Hines will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and international touring artist and global humanitarian Mary McBride will headline the 2018 Arena Stage Gala honoring Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW). As previously announced, the Gala features the presentation of the third annual Beth Newburger Schwartz Award to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and will recognize Jessica Stafford Davis as an Emerging Leader. The Gala is helmed by event chairs and Arena Stage Trustees Lavern Chatman and Maggie FitzPatrick.
Krysta Rodriguez to Join NSO for WEST SIDE STORY IN CONCERT

Broadway's Krysta Rodriguez of the Tony Award nominated revival of Spring Awakening, joins the cast of the National Symphony Orchestra'sWest Side Story in Concert, led by Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke, February 14, 16, and 17, 2018 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Rodriguez replaces previously announced Ana Villafa e as Anita, who has withdrawn due to scheduling conflicts.

Producer Mark Cortale's Broadway concert series hosted by Sirius XM radio star Seth Rudetsky returns to San Francisco in 2018 at the Herbst Theatre in the iconic San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center. The internationally acclaimed series will now bring Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara to San Francisco in the New Year, on the heels of Jessie Mueller's smash hit season opener this past October.
Casting Director Removed from Reading of NORMA RAE After Asking for Union Benefits

Broadway might be celebrating a successful season, but casting directors still are not pleased with their standing in the theatre community. According to the New York Daily News, Cindy Tolan, one of a number of casting directors heading up the efforts, was just refused a spot on the production team for a reading of a NORMA RAE musical when she asked for benefits through the Teamsters.

A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through December 23 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). The event benefits the Jane Elissa Endowment Fund for Leukemia/Lymphoma Research, as well as Cancer research, Broadway Cares, and other charitable causes.
