New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of the 29th installment of its virtual New Works Series on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at 7PM EDT, featuring excerpts from the new musicals Ramona and Johnny and The Devil's Box. The live 45-minute presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team.

New York Theatre Barn will continue to host weekly free live streams of its New Works Series each Wednesday evening at 7PM ET. BWW Review: THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX at Berkeley Repertory Theatre is PigPen Theatre Co.'s stunning re-imagining of the award-winning book and film.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for PigPen Theatre Co's The Tale of Despereaux: A New Musical. Coming off a successful run at The Old Globe in San Diego, where it had its world premiere, The Tale of Despereaux, with book, lyrics, and music by PigPen Theatre Co. and directed by Marc Bruni and PigPen Theatre Co., will begin previews at Berkeley Rep on Thursday, November 21, 2019 and run through Sunday, January 5, 2020. T. Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, announces the next T. Fellow is Ben Holtzman, the eighth fellow in the one?year program designed to educate and empower new creative producers. The fellow will receive a stipend of $10,000 with a $20,000 budget for the development of a new theatrical production, and will have access to courses in Columbia's MFA Theatre Management & Producing Program.

After a sold out show in 2017 Johnny and the Devil's Box is coming back to Rockwood! The concert will highlight selections from the new folk musical JOHNNY AND THE DEVIL'S BOX with performances by; George Abud (The Band's Visit), Julie Foldesi (Sunday in the Park with George, Newsies, South Pacific), Don Sparks (Margaritaville), Rema Webb (The Color Purple, Margaritaville), Annabelle Fox, Andrea Laxton, Alex Grubbs, Meghan Glogower, Scott Wasserman and Douglas Waterbury-Tieman. The band features members of The Playbillies Mike Rosengarten (Be More Chill) and Matt Cusack (Bandstand) with guest Billy Cohen.

The show runs July 5 through July 25 at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Emerson Park and is presented by special arrangement with Justin Nichols.

A brand-new dance narrative Alexa is coming alive at Inwood Art Works' Culture Hub on Friday, June 29th at 9pm, at 440 W. 202nd Street in Northern Manhattan. Alexa , a site-specific show based on the Amazon device, closes out the month-long programming at Culture Hub, a pop-up community arts center that is part of a vacant space activation program by Inwood Art Works. The Culture Hub is 'Inwood's Creative Space' for the entire month of June, with the hope to eventually create a permanent space for arts and culture in the Inwood community.

Douglas Waterbury-Tieman (Belmont alum) is premiering a workshop reading of his new musical, Johnny & the Devil's Box with Belmont University's Musical Theatre Program this Saturday, May 19th at 6 pm at Belmont's Troutt Theatre.

BC BEAT, an evening that sells out and is yet intimate, dynamic, and playful, continues to stimulate new collaboration between choreographers, performers, directors, composers, and producers like no other event in New York City. Just ask Patrick McCollum. He was introduced to Steven Hoggett as a possible performer for his BC BEAT piece in 2011. Following their BC BEAT process, McCollum worked nonstop with Hoggett as an Associate Broadway Choreographer and this year, made his Broadway choreographic debut with THE BAND'S VISIT. McCollum is one of the many Broadway artists who have performed and choreographed at BC BEAT and have made the most of the opportunity at hand.

Johnny, a young fiddler from the mountains, must contend with a death in the family, the threat of the law, a hijacked fiddle contest and the loss of his true love on his way to becoming the greatest fiddle player anyone has ever seen. But how will he fare against the greatest threat of them all, the Devil himself? Inspired by the myths of fiddlers' dealing with the Devil, the piece takes a hard look at the association between a virtuoso's egotism and hellish temptation.
