Mildred's Umbrella Announces 2019-2020 Season
by Stephi Wild
- Jun 5, 2019
Mildred's Umbrella offers some interesting collaborations and some off-the-beaten path projects, as we continue our quest for a new permanent space. As you might have heard, the space we were calling home was sold to developers, leaving our little company homeless for the time being. However, we wouldn't let a little thing like that stop us from creating a season of projects that we think will keep our audiences engaged and our artists creating while we look for a new home. "We've been a gypsy company before" said Artistic Director Jennifer Decker. "We will not be doing as many full blown productions, but we can still create amazing art in different spaces while we look for a new home. Great art can happen anywhere."

BWW Review: THE MAGIC FIRE Is Wise, Witty and Wonderful
by Frank Benge
- Jan 16, 2019
THE MAGIC FIRE, by Lillian Groag, is a 1997 memory play set in Buenos Aires during the 1950s regime of Juan Peron. This cross cultural immigrant family finds their personal refuge from the fascist politics of Argentina in art, theatre and opera. Events eventually bring them to the point where they are forced to confront not only politics, but also, their own moral obligations. The play first premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and still contains a powerful message that mirrors some of this country's current disturbing political trends.

BWW Review: FIRST SUBURB at The Catastrophic Theatre is All That and a Bag of Chips
by Pnina Topham
- Nov 20, 2018
The Catastrophic Theatre's production of FIRST SUBURB is utterly relatable and simply unshakable. From the open to the close, the show felt like a hug from an old friend. Set in the 90's, the show actively triggers your sense memory, and immerses audiences into the way-back-when. But like most memories of yore, things are seldom what they seem. FIRST SUBURB delivers an evening of levity and warmth. And on these cold winter nights, there is simply nothing better.
