On the first day of spring at the hidden gem of Long Island City Paper Factory Hotel, Astoria Performing Arts Center hosted their annual benefit, HOMECOMING. The evening welcomed nearly 100 guests to enjoy musical selections from former APAC artists.

The American Premiere of JONAH AND OTTO, by celebrated UK playwright Robert Holman, opened last night at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42 Street. Under the direction of Geraldine Hughes, JONAH AND OTTO stars Sean Gormley and Rupert Simonian. Scroll down for photos from the festivities!

Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to present its third annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, featuring 14 new musical productions. Created to showcase and support Chicago's burgeoning field of musical theatre creators, this year's festival will be held August 9 - 28, 2016 at Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Each production will receive four performances during the Festival. The full schedule (Tuesdays - Sundays) and can be found at www.cmtf.org, with tickets currently on sale ($20 per show, $200 all-festival rush passes). The press "sneak preview," featuring a sampling of songs from the 2016 Festival, is Monday, August 8 at 7:30 pm.

Tony Award®-winning Playwright David Henry Hwang has been elected the Chair of the American Theatre Wing. Having joined the board of the American Theatre Wing in 2009, Mr. Hwang will succeed current Chair William Ivey Long, who concludes his four-year term this year (the maximum number of consecutive years permitted). Mr. Long will maintain an active role in the Wing as he takes on the responsibilities as Immediate Past Chair.

ASTORIA STORIES is a collaborative production of plays and musicals celebrating the area of Queens that APAC calls home. The audience for the Jan. 21 premiere of THE GREAT ONE looked decidedly different than most of the opening night spectators at the Short North Stage. About 40 percent of the viewers for the one-act musical, written by Scott Hunt and J.J. Tiemeyer, came to the downtown theater donning hockey sweaters and sweatshirts and even broke into a chant of 'Let's Go Jackets' before the beginning of the play.

Wagner College Theatre opens their 2014-15 Season with one of America's great musicals, Hello, Dolly! from October 1-12.
